I think this is due to the small size of Cosford's new display box - hence why the Reds and Typhoons are having to display a few miles away. Display slowly in front of the crowd, or high energy away from it. Thankfully other venues appear unaffected (e.g. Rafale at Duxford).

Was merely an airfield recce according to Twitter.

Italian Tornado was performing a recce at height gaining reference points etc.

They were asked twice by ATC whether they wanted to do a practice display, but they declined both times, saying they would tomorrow.

Hopefully catch the display tomorrow then.I didn't get there until late afternoon(railway bridge)so were there any practices at all today?

Argh my face! Slightly burnt but a good day on the platform, today felt different than previous years in that I was waiting for some juicy items rather than just waiting to see what turns up. I've always felt Cosford wasn't as good value for money as other shows but after a bit of reflection tonight I think the variety this year is excellent and indeed the show is well worth it for the money, so I will eat my words! Only thing now is I hope the weather settles as the forecasts have been quite changeable for both tomorrow and Sunday.

Nice to meet you Tommy and put a face to a name! Thanks for the hard work with the live tweets as well.

I'm just off to sit in front of the fridge freezer with the door open now . . . .

Today it has hit me just how much i'm getting on now, 5 hours on the train station photographing planes and I am mentally and physically exhausted.

Was a cracking day to be fair with the bonus of the Italian Tornado showing up as I wasn't sure if it would just wait until tomorrow, the weather was strange with bitter winds followed by spells of really hot conditions.

Roll on sunday.

I suppose I missed the scorching mid day sun getting there as I did around 2pm. Will be there early doors in the morning though.

Just nipped out and there is light drizzle in the air, I don't think anything will be about until midday I'm hearing.

It looks like we might just get away with the rain tomorrow, BBC showing cloudy with sunny spells. It does look like it is going to be a bit breezy though, 15-20mph winds. Can all of the acts still display in those sort of winds?

Parachuters No..I think 8mph is there limit? Spitfires (most of them) are 16mph?

Depends really what the crosswind is across the runway for the warbirds. Hopefully the rain stays away and the wind dies down a bit tomorrow!

Isn't fast loud flat runs pretty much what a Tornado is all about? I wouldn't turn up to watch a Tornado display expecting pretty aerobatics.
