Shouldn't be to difficult for the Kestrel to appear at the show, was brought outside for the Harrier static display in 2014.

RAF Museum denied a request for the Lincoln to be brought outside for the show last year, reason escapes me.

As in 2014 you mean? come on, get with it

I have mixed feelings about rolling things out, having had a chat to some of the museum staff about the damage that can be done by the weather. There were some very effective temporary hangars deployed last year though.

I think that was quite an undertaking in 2015, has it been out again since?

To the best of my knowledge it's not been out again since 2015. They did wheel it out into the sunshine for the show in 2000, so the outdoor appearance in '15 wasn't the first time. So judging by that frequency, maybe it will be due out again in 2030

You mean, as we have systematically been doing for the past 5 Air Shows? Off the top of my head, we've had no less than 20 different aircraft outside! Obviously all those in the Cold War Exhibition are not viable candidates, so we've actually been through a fair percentage of their amazing collection, giving unique photo opportunists to our aviation enthusiast visitors.

AMB wrote: As it's parked near the end of the hangar, with a little effort I'm sure it could be brought outside.

I can assure you, it takes a significant amount of effort from numerous parties to get these aircraft outside. And each time there are a raft of considerations for us and the RAF Museum to consider and problems to overcome, not least of which the weather as Nigel has mentioned. Ensuring these historical airframes are not damaged must remain our top priority.

Our great relationship with the RAF Museum is continuing for 2019, and when we have the details confirmed of which aircraft may be allowed to stretch their legs onto the airfield, you'll be the first to know.

Re the Lincoln.
If the RAF Museum could not be persuaded to display the Lincoln outside for last years 100th there must be a good reason.
If I remember correctly the aircraft is fixed to axle stands, therefore an inspection of the tyres and undercarriage would be required before it could be safely moved.

Why not, the more space they can make money from can only be a good thing.

Slow news day: here's a tenuous link to mull over.

I notice on my Twitter feed today that Cosford air show "followed" the Gnat display team.

Is there anything in that?

Excellent! they've always evaded me in the past, and above all they'll show very well at Cosford. A proper little coup there.

Oh joy...

Quite possibly one of the worst displays I've seen. Still, might be alright at Cosford.

Are they likely to be freighted in?
C-130J?
With a flat out speed of under 250kph and a range of around 700k it would be a long ride out from Denmark.

A nice addition though.
Something I wouldn't have imagined ever seeing at Cosford :D
