If you are going Friday then I suggest getting there about 6.45-7ish mate

One of the regulars will be able to answer that, but as a heads-up, Monday's P&V will be busy, over 1250 advance tickets sold for it as of Monday night.
UPDATE: Have asked the question of a friend on base, and the departure start hasn't been confirmed as of yet, but is normally between 0800 & 0900. The schedule will be firmed up over the next couple of days as aircrew book their preferred slots.

Re: Park and View?
Which park + view is better to get some photos of the aircraft arriving/displaying on Friday? I was in west last year as we were told that if we went in the east park and view we probably would not get out again.

Wouldn't that depend on the prevailing wind?

The airfield does not officially open until 0900 on Monday due to the FOD inspection. Expect a constant stream of departures after that, especially if the sun is out!

Latest update from on-base is that departures for aircraft parked on the flying side will begin 0900L Monday, departures for aircraft parked in the static area will begin 1000L Monday.

Stepladders are definitely allowed in the eastern P&V as per RIAT's website (separate enclosure) - not sure about the western one. WRT which one to go for, depends which end they're using and whether you want airborne or ground shots really. If you really want to get a good idea before you go, use NOTAMPlot or similar to get the current TAF & latest METAR for the base and work it out.
EDIT: A common-sense alternative would be to do what I've just done & ask in the moves thread for the info. 27 is in use for arrivals, eastern end.
Re: Park and View?
Ok thanks, will probably go to the eastern end

Re: Park and View?
Were abouts is the park and view??
Re: Park and View?
In answer to your question, the western and eastern ends of the airfield. Seeing as things get going at 9am, what time is everything usually gone by? Lunch time ish? Just want to be able to plan the day
Re: Park and View?
It is rare for much to go before 0900 (there is a big party on the |Sunday night, and you need time to recover!) and they aim to have everything that's going by 1300 local.
Because of the prevailing wind, the aircraft usually depart east>west. So the eastern end will get close up views of stuff on the ground, whilst the western end will get airbourne shots of the departures.
