If you click on the aircraft on the participation list, it comes up with some more info and its in there :)

Is it? http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/aircra ... -de-France

http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/aircra ... 17-Sally-B

Doesn't really matter, I was just interested as I always forget where the extra info is posted!!

As mentioned on the other RIAT topic , for some strange reason they've deleted that info off the "PdeF" & "Sally B" links.

Slight change of topic here, with regards to the Mig 29.

Loved the display last year, but I had really been looking forward to seeing the aircraft perform a "cobra" manouever (I thought this was the Fulcrum's trademark move??)

Just wondered if anyone had a decent answer, and whether we can expect to see the Mig 29 do a "cobra" this year??

No folks, I didn't know what it was either

Looks straight forward enough to me: 1) Realise you're being chased by a baddy. 2) Poke your nose up a bit to wave at him. 3) Blow him up. 4) Adopt smug face. 5) Depart (rapidly, before his mates arrive).

Polish Air Force displays have never featured this manoeuvre. Apart from the Russian demonstrators, only the Hungarian and Slovak displays used to perform it out of the regulars. In the last few years the Slovak display has also dropped this and the trademark tailslide and like the Polish display mainly consists of big sweeping loops and turns, very nice but lacks the edge of "old".

Thanks for that!

I wonder what the actual reasons are though for dropping these said manouvers?!

Anything from the list of:-

Health & safety
Old, unreliable jets
Old, unreliable engines
Its dangerous!
Engine flame outs
Sufficient altitude to recover V flying the display too high
Innexperienced Pilots

Cobras were never the trademark of Fulcrums, that were tailslides (or bells, as the Russians called it). Cobras were the trademark of Flankers.

On the subject of Cobras, dont think its too dangerous, because the SU-35 has been permitted to do one at Paris.

Still strange that the Sea Fury is still showing as "confirmed" on the RNHF's website but no mention of it at all on RIAT's !!

Just back onto the subject of the Cobra maneuver, I seem to remember an SU-27 did the Cobra maneuver at a Woodford show, maybe early 90's.

Speaking of the beautiful Flanker, what's the chances of Ukraine sending one with that lovely IL-76 again? I can't remember how early/late Ukraine confirmed their attendance in 2011.

Think it was quite late in the day, but didn't RIAT dig deep into their pockets to get them there.

Thanks for the confirmation. So I guess despite them being invited and so far no news on them declining I guess it's unlikely.

According to this listing PDF are down as doing both days at RIAT, would they fly in on the Safurday, refuel and rest and possibly fly a display later in the day? :dunno:

May arrive Saturday, but not display. I suppose it would depend how late they would be arriving.

Given that the site of the show in France they will fly at on Saturday says they will be there during the afternoon, would leave very little time to also fly at RIAT that same day, IMHO. Besides, I seem to recall the PdF is not allowed to fly more than one display per day.

The PdF will need to validate though - I can see them turning up Thursday or Friday to practice perhaps - can't see them getting a cheeky one in on Saturday evening; as has been said, unlike the Reds, I think all other European teams only fly one performance a day.

As already mentioned on the other RIAT thread { somewhere around page 60 or 61} , PdeF's website { http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=48355&p=502784#p502784 } say they are arriving at Fairford on the Thursday , departing for Perros Guirec on Friday , displaying at Perros Guirec on Saturday , then displaying at both Paris { Tour de France flypast } & Fairford on Sunday.
So yes , logic would dictate that their RIAT display validation would be either on the Thursday or possibly on the Friday prior to them departing for 'PG'.
