If you read Graham Hurley's book Airshow you will see why they were so anti any kind of fly on the wall documentary............I doubt that attitude will change or indeed that any such programme will appear on mainstream TV.

The probably wouldn't want people to see how they really operate anyhow..............I doubt it would make comfortable viewing.

I am going to try to buy this book as have heard quite a few mention it.

Could you elaborate a little more on why they would be uncomfortable? And why it would not make comfortable viewing?

On the subject of the turkish stars they are a little boring though their commentator is not! I think it is fair to say that the flying programme for 2008 had the potential to be the best for many years though it is also true to say that it was probably slightly heavy on display teams.
Was once Liveforriat2007 but that wasnt a great year so Ive decided to simply live for RIAT period.

How about some stuff from the African continent? We never get to see anything from there. I was also surprised at how much Russian stuff they have, so I would think that we would have a better chance of seeing those aircraft from there than seeing them from Russia. Its probably a money thing again though. Anyway here are a list of some but by no means all of the African hardware.

Hardly any chance I'd say. I suppose it might be possible to get Marche Verte or a SAAF Herc or 707, which wouldn't be too bad.

Yes, I think you're really pushing the limits of imagination when you start hoping for a Zambian MiG-19!

Like i've said before, i'd just like an airshow in 2009! - but regarding the Turkish stars bashing, I would love to see them back. I enjoyed their practise display if only to see that many F-5s in the air all at one time!

Also, its probably been about 10 years since i've heard their commentary, which is worth a display itself!

chances on Greek A-7 or Hungarian Mig-29 in 2009???

apart from Hungarian Mig-29 then the next to go out of service for ex eastern block may well be Polish Su-22's, a couple of those more than welcome and not the commonly seem tiger marked 2 seater. Bulgarians would also be very welcome... :dummy:

Might that include the Tornado F3 as well?

As mentioned every year, a Skyhawk at RIAT would be awesome, whether it be a RSAF example or one of the BAe Systems owned ones in Germany.

And every year the Singaporeans seem to ignore all correspondence and the BAES examples at Wittmund are tightly tied to a contract with strict criteria on availability that invariably impacts on their ability to attend airshows, especially overseas.

I thought the HuAF MiG-29's are due for retirement early '09? Hopefully I'm wrong though!

If not mistaken the HuAF have upgraded their Mig29 a while ago?Am I right?

I'd like to see the German F4 solo once again before it retires. In addition, "the Starfighters" privately operated F104 team in the U.S.A. one or more of the Thunder City Lightnings and any Mirage F1s still hanging around anywhere? All this together with the usual stuff!!!

Lots listed

Would you really want some of those countries listed flying their ex-Soviet hardware anywhere near you, no chance guv'nor, far too dodgy. A nice thought though, rarity = good.
