West sounds busy from the chatter I've heard. I'm at East, thinking I'll move if it's rubbish.

The U-2 has just called start and confirmed he is using Runway 27

Hoping they let us in so I can capture it!

So presumably this isn't the one sticking around for static, therefore that U2 has yet to arrive..?

Based on what others have said about FFD runway being usable up to a 10 mph tailwind (but I think this was for the B-52) it looks like it could be either to be honest. The wind is forecast to drop to virtually nothing during the day so from 1PM 27 would be usable but even before that it is a crosswind not a tailwind so might still be within parameters for landing. I would guess 10,000 feet of runway is going to be plenty of roll out for most aircraft so they may just use 27.

Forecast is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2649741

Tower just confirmed to the U-2 the wind is 360.

Perfect cross wind, my money is now on 27 being in use.

U2 has departed. I got to see it for all of 11 seconds before it disappeared into the clouds.

japenese 767 57-3601 is airborne from Brize as COBBY61, climbing to 10000ft, towards the South West, going somewhere else???

also around are 84006 C130 Swedish AF coming towards the Norfolk coast, and T.21-13 CN295 Spanish AF. Pakistan C-130 must have come the long way as just coming up to the Dorset coast!

Others are 4153 Gripen Czech AF and Weasl04 F-16 USAF

Japanese isn't listed on today's arrivals so could be heading somewhere else.
