Really? Are they announced elsewhere that weekend?

That’s extremely disappointing. I know it’s primarily about the RAF this year but as the RAF has next to nothing left and as this is the international celebration, I’m really wondering what can possibly be announced that’s both exciting and not seen at RIAT more years than not. I don’t envy the lads and ladies at DBH.

RIAT not listed on their schedule on their website. Only overseas show was Bucharest I think.

There is loads of aircraft out there that can come to RIAT as the A-10 Thunderbolt team just reformed and the Yanks have defo got Harriers so seeing one of them again would be amazing!!!.....Having said that it's easy for us to sit and say all this quite different trying to actually get them.

I did say I don’t envy the good people at DBH as we all know that to a large degree it’s out of their hands.

The thing with the Turkish Stars is that they are what I consider a realistic prospect. They’ve not got to travel half way around the globe in a fighter, they’ve been before but not for a few years and most of all they actually exist as a display act.

The one team i genuinely wanted to see. Gutted. Hopefully we get a Radom type announcement in the coming weeks to liven things up a bit! I’d like to see something i haven’t seen in years or that i even seen before (B-1B/Mig-21)

I am hoping that they get one type of each aircraft airworthy or static that the R.A.F used throughout the years like the Bristol Blenheim, Mosquito, Electric Lighting, Canberra, Buccaneer, F-4 Phantom, Jaguar, Harrier and F-3 Tornado......It's a shame that the Vulcan no longer flys and it's also a shame there are no Victors and Valiants and Nimrod as they were great to see in the old days.

Do you guys think that updates from now on will cover whole countries? like all the planes that are coming from that country or individual confirmations. Sorry for my question it might sound dumb but its my first time going to RIAT and looking at the forum

A mix of both, many nations don’t confirm static until closer to the show but flying schedules are published earlier.

Seriously Kev, you want to get a ticket for the RAF Cosford airshow; it’s pretty much just what you described.

Indeed - there's no chance whatsoever of seeing some of those you mention; there's next to no chance of seeing a Buccaneer or Jaguar, marginally more than next to no chance of seeing a Harrier or Phantom (at least in the flying display) and possibly quite a good chance of seeing a Blenheim (or at least something that looks, sounds and flies just like a Blenheim...).

A Phantom on static? More likely based on the past few years

Unless they bus them in, you won't be seeing any of the other aircraft on your list, that's for sure.

Probably nothing to go on but on the 'latest update' page, it shows the USAF Reserve Command in blue text. Strange how its down at the bottom of the list though?

Solo Turk confirms for the flying display; the Turkish F-16 makes a comeback after displaying at the 2017 Air Tattoo.
An E-7A Wedgetail from the Royal Australian Air Force will once again make the long journey to the Air Tattoo static display.
Two transport aircraft also confirm for the static line up; a Royal Air Force of Oman C-130J Hercules and Slovakia Air Force C-27J Spartan.

Really pleased about the Slovak C-27 attending given the important contribution to the wartime RAF from Czechoslovakia.

Tidy stuff.

The Slovakian C-27 is pretty awesome. They've only got two, and only took delivery of the first one in autumn last year! Love me an Omani Herk, too!

There's my answer above!!

Seriously? Or are you :sleepy: ing at "yet another F-16 display..."?

Good update for sure, SoloTurk is always fun. Is that a debut for a Slovakian Spartan?

Edt: based on the above comment from Tommy it must be I guess!!

Flying display wise, no surprise there and as great as the display is, we've been spoilt by having SoloTurk so many years in a row. I was hoping for something we didn't already know about, guess that'll have to wait another week.

Very impressed with the static bits n bobs, plenty of big airframes there and I've a soft spot for the Wedgetail  I think a lot of this is to do with this year being my first time doing arrivals, if I were doing Friday-Sunday I'd probably give this update a 'meh'...

Fingers crossed for more from the Slovaks, greedy though it is I'm still hoping for the MiG 29 display

Ok ...look,is it me of is this just like any other update from any other year ??
Iam not knocking it but I just feel that it’s all the same stuff as any other year,it’s a shame about the Aussies as I would have thought a bigger contingent would be forthcoming ,I remember when they celebrated their anniversary in 2001 the RAF sent 2 tonkas(1 for the flying display),Nimrod,Awacs and Herc if I recall !!

But it's not now 2001 - no one has the same resources as they had then.
