With all the bad nwes coming out of Afghanistan this week, I would not be surprised if at least 1 RAF C17 is withdrawn.

That gets my vote too. Will be good to see the Spanish EF-18 after a few years, especially that high alpha pass!

I enjoyed the Swiss display in 2006 more so than the US Super hornet, it was simply awesome for what I think is An F18 C Model (Please correct me if Im worng)

Am I right in saying that the Swiss hornets or atleast some of them actually have Super Hornet Software updates?

Swiss definitely!
Just wondering when the best time to get to Fairford is on the Friday? Coming from Preston up north, should take about 3 hrs.

Think the display practices start around 10am on Friday so you want to be there for 9, set up tent and get comfy

Think the Rafale is definitly inline for a trophy of some sorts

Leaving at 3am to hopefully arrive around 2pm on friday. Will it be over by then or does practice extend until evening? We'll pop in to the FRIAT enclosure in any case. Agree about Swiss above, 2006 was some effort.

Doesn't surprise me really as one of the CASA's declared a pan pan with a fire in number 1 engine on the 02/07. Made a emergency landing safely back at the Bal, but is probably still tech. At least we are getting a wolfehound.

The Swiss hornet display in 2007 was great. I seem to remember watching the Finnish hornet from the car park, it was pretty good too.

Since when did this come in?

Just looked and it came in just before Farnborough last year, found this on Flightline....

At the recent DASC Pre-season flying display symposium, it was announced that all flare releases have been outlawed. This decision was made as the manufacturers of the flare systems could not be certain that no debris would reach the ground following release. Any such debris could prove to be harzardous to persons and aircraft below.

Some of the most prominant users of flares at airshow have been written to by the UK MoD asking them not to employ flares at UK shows. At the symposium, it was also confirmed that this regulation affected the coastal airshows as well as those held over airfields.
