Just checked it out on YouTube and whilst not as dynamic as the Airbus A400M demo*, it would be a nice change and something I don't think has been seen here for donkeys years. Probably still go for the F-16 demo myself given the choice of one.

* wonder if that owes anything to the one lost at a show in the States years back?

In short. Yes.

The C-17 demos were essentially cancelled after the Elmendorf crash. They now have a PACAF demo team, but the demo is apparently very heavily limited and monitored by brass. The Canadians are also randomly doing a demo this year at a show.

I've only seen the USAF do C-17 demos at a couple shows in the last few years. Once at Hickam, once at Nellis. Not sure where else they've done it.

Quite a coup for Volkel then - even if it was rather brief and sedate.

Armée de Where, or the Fresh Air Force, are currently not down to attend in any shape or form resembling an aircraft.

I saw the C-17 demo at Davis Monthan, it's pretty restrained - a couple of sedate passes (wheels up, wheels down), a short landing, and then reversing backwards using the thrust reversers - you're not missing much that you wouldn't see at Mildenhall or Ramstein.

That's pretty fair. I guess for some though, it is still the only chance to see one doing a bit as sadly popping to Mildenhall and especially Ramstein is not something that can be done readily - I really wish it was, but without getting a divorce I am in no position to be disappearing to Mildenhall to see some Globemasters without one hell of a good reason.

We got a nice 'wing wave' departure from the C-17 last year.

Glad that's been sorted

As we know, they'll be confirmed if/when DBH cross the Is and dot the Ts.

And then they'll tell us.

Simple, really.

With the email of the 19th June stating "Where else can you see military aircraft from nearly 30 different nations at one event?", and the count of confirmed nations at the moment, as I see it, being 24, I wonder what other countries are to be added? France? Poland? ?

If the team at DBH manage to arrange a Flypast on the Sunday my guess would be a send off for the reds with some USA involvement what does everyone else think ? that was the case b2 (fingers crossed )with reds but in reality possibly f15s with osprey

So , Im confused about whats actually doing a display on the Friday . 'Hardly anything ' I hear you all cry out !
I was chuffed to see the F-35B is listed as flying on the Friday , but noted that the RIAT email says its just a 'flypast' . How is that when its flown displays before ? I was hoping we would see it do as much as last years f-35a , plus a hovver.
The BBMF is not on RIATS list for Friday , but on the BBMF website it is. Does that just mean theyre flying in ?

And yes, Im taking family (all over 18 ) on Friday , so cant change.

As it says on the website, Friday’s flying display will not be confirmed until just before the show.

Based on previous Fridays I would say it will be made up of the star items, all the RAF displays and normally one of each type if there are multiple (ie either the Swiss or Finnish F-18 not both same goes for the Typhoon and F-16)

As for the F-35B the display in 2016 was put together solely for its debut, it’s likely going to be a few years before there is an RAF F-35B Display Team (if ever) but for now it’s flypasts or nothing.

How many passes do you think the f35 will do? I hope more than 2 + a hover.

seems to me that 'flypast' means singular.
