Lineup looking pretty thin as anticipated with no surprises.
But the sun is shining and there some star items so planning to make the most of today ahead of my planned RIAT sabbatical (first time I won’t be renewing my FRIAT membership).

My take on this year's RIAT:

A great day out!

The positioning of the static displays was relatively good, with some nice rarities, especially those Turkish F4s.

Flying display was likewise excellent, helped out by the weather, which allowed for no cancellations (excluding serviceability problems). Have to say that the Spanish Navy EAV8B Harrier 2+ pair stole the show in this regard, fantastic display with some nice hovering too. Very rare sight in UK skies. Finnish and Swiss F18s were likewise nice and aggressive, the best out there. Other highlights included the BA100 flypast, as well as obviously the Mig21 and Su27.

Shame the NATO flypast was plagued by cancellations, particularly sad about the German Tonka, but totally outside of RIAT's control.

Traffic getting into the car parks at 7am was light and relatively quick, but the queue to get into the showground was very long. Perhaps RIAT should start processing people earlier and then put them into a seperate queue inside until 7:30? Getting out was a bit of a nightmare. No surprise. Biggest crowd I've seen.

To sum up, well done DBH! You've put on a fantastic show as always.

Now, let's edit some photos :)

And contrary to assumptions the B-2 was never scheduled, sadly.

Can anyone tell me where that Firebird thing is? I've walked both ends and must have missed it?

Great day out yesterday, excellent flying with highlights including the first pass from the 747/Reds - never dreamed they'd fly a bend right round - MiG 21, Flanker, Hornets. Red and PdF scored with the two Concorde flypast as well, wasn't sure that would work but it was pretty decent. Frecce far and away best team.

Getting in via Blue was unbelievable, no route march to Marston Meysey and back this year, just right turn out of car park and straight to gate, no queueing, no issues with security or ticket scanning.

Getting out definitely another matter! Traffic management was clearly different this year from the last several and epic fail is the phrase. It was right back to the bad old days. New RIAT management needs a smack on the head and a stern instruction to return to recent arrangements. Once outside the car parks, no real problems.

Sounds like an issue with the FMS. He was doing a controllability check before coming in to land.

Hope those going today have a great day. Dont think about what was on yesterday blah blah, just focus on what your going to see today , some of the best and fastest jets in the world., 2 Harriers, lancaster hopefully.
And if that doesnt work, then you have a day of sunshine to st back and relax...what Friday people wouldve begged for.

Next to the Tempest I think.
With just the slightest bit of finesse, I might have made a little less mess.
