2012 : £57 for a standard 2 day 'Weekend' ticket ( full price )
2013 : £55 for a 2 day 'Weekend' ticket ( bought in January, so not sure if Earlybird or Super Earlybird discount )
2014 : £66 for a 2 day 'Weekend' ticket ( full price )
2015 : receipt lists the standard single day ticket price as £46
2016 : receipt lists the standard single day ticket price as £49
2017 : receipt lists the standard single day ticket price as £55

Booked a hotel for Thursday night intending on going to the show Friday and Saturday, but full price for half a show on Friday is taking the mick a bit!

I think releasing the tickets just 2 months after the last show has happened is taking the highground also. Release them just before Christmas or January, christ.

Highground isn't the term I'd use....micturation is more like it

You will get arrivals and possibly some rehearsals too, either side of the official flying display. Its better value than it looks. And a great opportunity to do some bits of the show ground that will lessen the pressure on your Saturday time.

I notice the public grandstand top row, aisle, and left hand side are now deemed 'Premium Grandstand Seats', at a fiver extra. I will balance that by acknowledging that a programme is thrown in with any Friday enclosure booking. That's worth fifteen notes to most/many visitors.

There's logic stated as to why the P&V station shuttle buses have been dropped - very poor take up. No surprise really.

For sure, FRIAT looks better value than ever.

I'm not impressed by the full ticket price for Friday. Not only are people getting half a flying display but a good amount of showground is closed too for the same price as the weekend.
I'm happy to pay a reduced rate for Friday because it's actually an enjoyable day, bit this isn't on.
Perhaps RIATMarketing could explain this?

Surely no rehearsals whilst people are in the showground on Friday?

I agree that paying full price to have a third of the showground off limits is massively unfair to those planning on attending on that day, and smacks solely of profiteering. I also would like to hear from RIAT Marketing as to why this is the case.

No issue with rehearsals, the issue is with display validations with the public on the showground. If the act has already been validated they can rehearse as much as they want with the showground occupied.

If you think Friday looks bad value, why not buy a weekend ticket instead? :dunno:

I mean, I can kind of see the logic behind it, but it's such a silly system given that P&V remains open during arrival days for validations.

I can see that ending at some point given Freccegate last year, mind.

In which case FRIAT is an unbelievably good value option.

Fair. I wish they were doing another full day's flying - but I always enjoyed the shorter Fridays as well. Kind of a holiday within a holiday!

The price hike for the Friday show is crazy!! A 60% increase from Friday at RIAT 2017 :dizzy:
I would love to hear a good reason from riat marketing at why this is?

Has the FRIAT 6 month pay option form been sent out does anyone know ?

The year before last I paid over 6 months and got a DD form in the post to complete. Last year was by credit card, but reverting back to the 6 months for 2019. Just wondered if anyone has heard anything as yet ? I posted my request form back in July.

Thanks :-)

Spoke to FRIAT today. They are currently processing the applications which were numbered and issued at the show. Currently, they have done about 30, and they do not expect to get them all done before the first payment is due in October. In which case, you will get 6 monthly instalments due from the date that they process. FRIAT as ever, very helpful and courteous on the 'phone, but they did sound very busy.

Great, Get the money off the Punters quickly before anything is announced. I'll have to unsubscribe from the email list as no doubt it will be a reminder every week from now....
Cheers

As previously cynically speculated, put them on sale soon after this year's show & trade on peoples goodwill ( and hope they don't cotton on to the fact that they're paying more for less )
Whatever justification DBH may give, it won't be a good reason.....unless they plan to fill Friday's show with Phantoms, B-1s, Russian display teams & the AN-225.

Price continues to creep up and what’s the justification for continual rises? Super Earlybird tickets edging closer to £50, full price near to £60! :hypno:
Aware there will be those who try to counter by saying it’s only a £2 increase, very small, only 4% up on 2017 SE ticket price, but it’s yet another rise. Do the advertised prices also include admin and booking fees? Add a couple more quid on top then if not and you are at the £50/60 mark already...

Hence the question about a historical view of prices as it surely was much less than 10 years ago that Super Earlbirds were mid-£30 and the full price tickets also sub £50

Devils advocate......how much did your car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, electricity, gas, petrol/diesel et al costs increase by over the past 12 months?

How much do we think RIAT’s costs have increased by since last year? Hotel accommodation for crews? Vehicle rental? Catering companies, fuel (aircraft and vehicle) etc?

Just to make it clear that personally I have no issues with percentage price rises, just with the fact that Friday customers are - quite frankly - being ripped off.
