Scanner Frequencies

Post by 2e1var »

Radar - 123.550, 119.000 (Brize)
Approach - 134.550 (Brize), 297.800 (Brize)
Tower - 124.800, 338.225
Ground - 121.175, 234.250
Departures (Monday) – 130.500
Red Arrows
243.450
RJF
126.800, 133.300.
BBMF
120.800, 122.700
Patrouille de France:
- 143.100, 242.650, 141.825, 243.850, 263.350, 266.175
Frecce Tricolori:
- 362.625, 140.600, 263.250, 123.475

Personally if you are new to scanning then I’d just bang in 2 x Fairford tower and the Reds. If you stick in the Brize frequencies then you’ll wind up listening to that while the displays are on, also most of the foreign displays won’t be speaking English on their own channels. That said if you’re staying over there for arrivals then it’s something else to listen to.

The frequencies listed on FaceBook are outdated I believe and were lifted from a website listing UK airshow frequencies. The correct frequencies were listed in the first post. If anyone has an additional/updated team frequencies to add it would be much appreciated.

As Mrs MM seems to have caught the photography bug, I was thinking that perhaps I should get a scanner. Can anyone recommend a good value piece of kit please?

Not tried them myself, but if by 'good value' you mean reasonably priced, you could look at something like the Alinco DJ-X30 or Uniden/Bearcat UBC-125XLT.
Both cover the all-important military airband frequency range, as opposed to just the civi airband range & both are available for under £150 new.

Awaits the usual obligatory suggestion of Uniden 3500/3600XLT models costing £400 or more.....

Thanks BC - I purposefully used vague language so as not to appear too cheap

Cheap is good, if it does the job you want it to do

A lot of the time you pay a premium price for a scanner simply because of all the extras it has ( 'trunk tracking', CTCSS, more memories, faster scan-rate, etc. ) which your average purchaser will never use ( how often will they use HF, for example? )
