Friday’s looking a bit grim at the moment, although that could soon change

Might make for some interesting shots though. It can’t be any worse on a show day than Saturday 2011 or Saturday 2017!

Weather model is changing by the hour every hour at the moment so its very much wait and see, latest shows Wednesday not too bad, Thursday overcast, Friday grim and yuk, Saturday sunshine and showers and Sunday and Monday mostly overcast, so overall not great and more praying to the weather gods required. :dizzy:

Chris not convinced you'd be looking at the correct rock in times of snow, so not convinced of its reliability.

On what forecast, exactly?

Met Office shows showers at worst.

It does look a lot like whatever forecast you choose to look at, we're in a for a few cloudy and or wet days sandwiched between blocks of good weather. Sods law.

On the plus side, I only have space for 10 photos before I'd need to start deleting stuff or going Pro on Flickr. This weather might mean 10 keepers is all I'll get.

Honestly, as amusing as this thread is, there is not one iota of point in worrying about the weather until the day before, and even then it can change.

One year I drove along the M4 at 5.30am in a downpour but pulled off at Junction 17 and the rain stopped (or rather I drove out of it). Another year it was p***ing it down at one end of the runway and dry and sunny at the other.

What is certain is that there will be weather.

After doing all 7 days last year in the heatwave (except for the 10 minute shower on the Friday) I'll never moan about a cloudy RIAT ever again!!

Literally this. Hayfever ruined my RIAT last year.

And heat haze put paid to some of my photos, including some of the display items in the air! A crazy week...

Looking at the latest BBC weather forecast, its only really after 3pm on the Friday and around 10-11am (possibly later) on the Saturday that's looking dodgy, and even then the chance of rain (the % given) is relatively low. 'Drizzle' on Saturday morning sounds a bit grim - but the cloud base is more the worry.

Yesterday the metoffice had heavy showers for pretty much all of Friday, now it looks like a repeat of the weather at Yeovilton (cloudy with no rain) which would suit me just fine but I am sure it will change back and forth a few more times before Friday.

Met Office says you might get a few showers on Wednesday night, but no rain on Thursday and Friday day. Rain is then forecast to start at 10pm Friday night and continue until 7pm Saturday... No rain is forecast for Sunday and Monday and then the sun comes out for the first time at 7pm Monday evening...

Doesn't have to be all negative about the weather, the rain could even come as a refreshing relief in the coming heatwave - remember that tropical rain shower in 1994? I've still got one of those German Army shirts that were being flogged off for 50p a pop, trader must have made a killing that day! But I've had some remarkable light conditions immediately after a storm.

The end of the display on Sunday 2016 comes to mind! Ramen Delta, Frecce Tricolori displaying against an incredibly dark, menacing sky in the distance. Made for some good photos
