No doubt they were a fabulous addition last time, wait, just dawned on me that was 10 years ago!! :scream:
The thing that let them down all those years ago was the weather so hopefully they'll get some much deserved blue skies this time. That and fingers crossed RIAT's display rules and limitations don't impact on them too much as we've seen the likes of the Frecce's sequence decimated to the point of them almost looking like a different team.
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!

All I remember from all those years ago from Totterdown the Black Eagles was the most incredible team display I have ever seen. I cant remember what day but it was amazing. I struggle to read some of the poor comments here for RIAT 2022 although everyone is allowed their opinion. After the last two years i was expecting a very low key revival. This year for me far surpasses this. Yes, a lot of training aircraft, but its looking so much better than I hoped for. Its so simple. If you dont like what DBH have done visit a better show in the UK instead. I for one cannot wait to return for 5 days of something I genuinely thought may never return during my darkest covid hours. Still many more updates. The only one now I want to see is weather. Peter and the team are doing such an incredible job.

Fridays great weather (remember FRIAT walkaround?) showed just what they can do, and how!

Best display i've seen, culminating in the national emblem painted in the sky.

Superb catch, for the 3 main days of RIAT.

Thursday. I remember Friday arrivals day being abysmal weather as I stood in P&V East all day waiting for the Spirit to arrive!

Do you think there's any chance for an Osprey display? Also wondering if we will get a KC-135 or KC-10 on static as they are currently very busy.

I gave up on the Spirit in the end, that was just horrendous weather... :D

There’s a good chance we could get an Osprey from the Hall (Theres been one in the flying every year since 2015)

KC-135/KC-10 perhaps you’ve answered your own question? If they’re currently very busy, theres a chance we’re less likely to see them than previous years?

I’m still clutching at straws for the Super Hornet being at Farnborough!

Romania brings back MiG-21 LanceR fighters after safety grounding

Also the Czech Republic has been sending over their Mi-24's to Ukraine. Wonder if they will have any left by the time RIAT happens

Guys, remember there is a wish list and a discussion thread. Appreciate there’s a lot of grey area, but try to think where your “I hope” posts belong.

Has anyone noticed that the "Fairford Eye" appears to be returning?

Could possibly affect the Czech Mi-24 participation.

I think all military aircraft are very busy currently, especially tankers and transport, so we really should be appreciative for whatever we get turn up in July!

Nope, they were never removed from that schedule that is posted on FB tonight. It was posted as a news article on March 15th. It has always been kept on this one, even with the removal from the 2 others.

https://www.airforceheritageflight.org/ ... -schedule/

For some reason they have 3 seperate schedules on their website. The 2 main ones removed RIAT but that one didn't from the news article listing RIAT in the schedule.

Still not listed on either the full heritage schedule or consolidated schedule

I get that there may be problems with the A-10 but I would have though the F-35 heritage flight isn’t too difficult, and they could use an RAF Lakenheath jet?

hi,
regarding the Black Eagles, whats the chance of the support a/c (C.130's x3?) hanging around in the static, that would be great...

As has been mentioned, the support aircraft don't often go on to static, in case they're needed for some reason. IIRC the Turks brought a KC-135 (I can never remember the designations, that might be wrong) with their F-4s a few years ago but it headed off straight away. Other support aircraft have been based at Brize too I think.

With the Black Eagles though, if the main reason for the C130s is to actually bring the aircraft here, perhaps there is more chance that one of them at least definitely wouldn't be needed and therefore could be spared for the static display. Of course the flip side is that once they are here and have been put back together, the Hercs might not be needed at all until the return several weeks later, and could go back to South Korea in the meantime.

Remember as well that they are unlikely to be based at Fairford - reports have suggested Manchester or Bournemouth as a base, so the C-130s might not be seen at RIAT at all.

Just my own thoughts on this but think 1 might be a distinct possibility, regarding the other two it's likely to depend on where the team will be doing their workup from before the show, or possibly both may relocate to Brize.

The article that said they were coming over mentions other events, in Poland & Slovakia I think - if they're doing that you'd imagine they'd need at least 1 C-130 to hang around for transporting ground crew, kit, spare parts etc around Europe. Just my opinion, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have 1 support aircraft stay with them for the tour...

As I read it.
The Black Eagles are flown to UK (in a big aircraft) put together. And start their campaign supported by 3 C-130s. So 1 or more might also be at Fairford I guess for one or more days
After the UK the Black Eagles fly to different locations in Europe, Egypt Philippines and other mentioned countries all the way back to S.Korea. A 20,000 mile trip! Supported by the 3 C-130s.

The Turkish KC-135 actually stayed far side all of 2019 show, the previous couple of years supporting Solo Turk it went home. Most "supports" depart, such as the Frecce's Hercs, Swedish Herc, Spanish CASAs, but some like the Polish or Finnish CASAs can stay and move into the static. If a Korean Herc fingers crossed is in the area no reason it cannot be a static as well.
