RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread

Post by Tommy »

Hi all,

There are plenty of threads discussion whether the show will take place and what it will look like in a post-COVID world - please keep the COVID discussion in those threads just so we can maintain a bit of separation.

This thread is on the assumption that the show will be taking place, in some form or other, and is exclusively for the normal course of discussion about participants, whether confirmed, self-confirmed or rumoured.

Hopefully we can all look forward to a return to RIAT 2021, and some exciting participation. So please, make sure that you use this thread for (I don't think that there is any yet, but) any discussion about RIAT participation in this thread. :grinning:

And in that vein - ICAS is taking place today, albeit in a virtual form. Perhaps worth keeping an eye on potential US demo team participation when the calendars are announced this afternoon.

I heard a rumour a few years ago that the Royal Jordanian Falcons might be there.

Very unlikely the Blue Angels will turn up but I would hope to see them next year

Well according to some posted prelim schedules on US forum no Thunderbirds - no announced Blue Angels but for all those who love speculating out there 17-18 July is a weekend off - haven't some of these schedules been round for awhile though?

F22 prelim schedule does not include RIAT but there is a gap over the period - have they not announced overseas dates later in the past?

F16 prelim does not include RIAT but there is a gap over the period

CF18 displaying elsewhere

Viper demo team added Riat 2019 in March of the that year. They may add Riat at a later date. I see all display teams minus including thunderbirds (not blue angels) have the weekend free. I’m not guaranteeing all of them are gonna come to Riat, but I can say at least one probably will

Surprisingly no Snowbirds - same source as before

Schedule shows no engagement for the A10 over the RIAT period

The link I posted above. They’re listed as green which means “pending final approval” and the assets are “TBD”.

I’d take that, (with a pinch of salt as always) as pretty positive news for something from the US.

Probably safer to rely on the information officially posted, rather than a “like”, I think.

Yes indeed, but still if the pilot likes it and there is evidence that a USAF display team is coming over, it seems pretty interesting
