As for looking forward to being able to 'wander around the static when the sun is setting', good luck with that. Most years all I ever experienced were staff wanting to chuck you out an hour after flying! Who knows, maybe this year will be different?
Flying ends at 6, showground closes at 7.30. Staff (most volunteers remember) have to clear a massive site of thousands of people. So starting to kick you out at 7 seems reasonable to me 👍🏼

I've got no issue with that & I've never had any problems with any RIAT volunteers however I've definitely had an issue with RAF personnel seeming to be deliberately standing in front of people taking photos at about 1900. If you're working your way to an exit at 1900 with the idea of being at or out the exit at 1930, which is what I always do, they shouldn't interfere with that.

Just had an email about collecting my viewing village tickets/wristbands. It mentioned also collecting my lunch voucher - is this a new thing?

Don't remember getting such a thing in the past (it's most welcome of course!).
Yes, I received the email yesterday evening and was wondering the same thing! I'd have thought this is a copy and paste error from one of the higher priced packages? If not, great!

Saturday 16th July: RIAT showground closes at 1930, but the sun doesn't set until sun sets circa 2117.

Must admit I really do miss the old days of the showground shutting much later. Not really sure why it changed to be honest.

I’ll rephrase, perhaps not sunset but evening sky. I remember a couple years where it was splendid. Typhoon RIAT 2018 I think it was, when the jet almost looked orange. And I think it could’ve been 2017 when I remember looking at the static down the western end with the sun quite low in the back making for some good silhouette shots!

Yeh the evening slots at RIAT can be quite nice. Especially for static at the Western end!

Kuwait confirmed as not participating as well, and they're now sending a Typhoon. Anythings possible I suppose

Is it coming in with a Kuwaiti pilot or a Leonardo pilot?

Late '80s. I recall driving from the parking at the west end, through the static to leave by the east gate.

Unthinkable now.

Even though I don’t think discussions with India will come to fruition, If India were to confirm, I think it’d be something like their 777 on static!

Edit ignore lol!

Guess we just have to wait for the aircraft that Japan and Bahrain are bringing now. Bahrain does have brand new Hawk T2's but in full desert camo, don't know if they're in operational service yet tho, and as well Japan we sort of already expected, but maybe they'll bring something else as well, gotta see but seems like a sick RIAT update once again!

Not a too exciting aircraft, but for a first attendant to an airshow always nice to see!

Biggest decline list of any RIAT?

Saying that look at the state of the world, probably not a surprise!
