DCAE Cosford Tour
DCAE Cosford Tour
Date: Tues 09 August 2011 | Time: 09:45
Hope the mods don't mind, not doing this for profit but thought some people may be interested...
I have been lucky enough to secure ten places on a tour to DCAE Cosford on 9th August. I'm not a tour operator or do not aim to make a profit out of this visit. The Cosford tours are very popular and normally sell out pretty quickly but this is a good chance to get on one!
You can expect to see RAF Jaguars and a few other things such as Seaking and Provost. A good review of a tour can be found on Gordon Jones' website here: http://www.fast-air.co.uk/dcae-cosford-photography-090122/
The coach will depart promptly at 10:00am so I ask people attending to be at the meeting point by 09:45 so I can mark everyone off.
The tour will start with hangars 146 and 143 on the main site and then transfer to the airfield site and tour hangars 2, 3 and 4 and 238 Sqn line in hangars 15 and 16. Unrestricted photography is permitted but as RAF Cosford is a training establishment the RAF do ask that visitors:
- Do not interrupt training, ie do not distract or get in the way of activities of staff/trainees.
- Restrict photographs to airframes only.
The tour will finish at 12:15 thus allowing those who wish to visit the RAF Museum (last admission is 17:00) to do so.
Please be aware that persons attending the tours must be able to access a coach and be capable of standing/walking for a reasonable amount of time during the 2 ½ hour tour. If they have any medical conditions or disabilities that may have an adverse effect on their ability to undertake the tour, they must advise Cosford so that they can make the necessary arrangements; failure to advise them of any special requirements may result in unavoidable lack of access to some facilities.
I would like each person that takes one of my places to make a donation of £10.00 to RAF Cosford. I will collect the money when we meet but I do ask people to make sure they are available on the date as these places are like gold dust and don't want people not turning up!
Should you have to cancel you need to contact me as soon as possible so I can re-allocate the place.

Email sent,
I live fairly close to the airbase, but have been unable to secure a place on any of the tours at Cosford. Would it be possible to meet you on the day?

Re: DCAE Cosford Tour
Recieved your email Sea King as well as an email from 'Ian'. Will email everyone once the places are full.
2 Left!
The plan is to meet everyone at a location around Cosford where a Coach will pick us up. Will send details later on.

Re: DCAE Cosford Tour
Sorry for anyone disappointed. I have to confess it was never even my intention to organise a group visit but agreed to it without even realising it - if I was to organise a group I would have asked for a lot more. However i'm over the moon to be finally going to Cosford and in some good company too.
Thanks for everyone's prompt responses.

Many thanks for putting this together. Myself - as I'm sure others will agree - appreciate it greatly.
I look forward to it
