Just thought it would be interesting to see what Peoples thoughts were on aircraft attending the Night shoots.

Always thought I was pure mil only, until the Skyvan at last years Northolt day shoot, then the Met Police chopper, and the Tracker has a F reg too, now I'm not too sure LOL ! I think it depends on how rare/interesting the civil item is, really

Have to agree, it would depend on what type. Military is also my main interest. I wouldn't be interested in any old civil type but something like the Police helicopter or the Dornier from NERC would be great.

Add in some warbirds, the Anson, Dragon Rapide or 2 and you could be on to something.

Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
I think it is a struggle for Phil to get anything in the current climate, so you should be grateful for anything, regardless of owner/operator. Surprised Classic Flight haven't sent their Anson, Prentice or a Rapide to one of these?

At least at night under the lights you don't have to worry about naff light on the day
As for Mil Vs Civvie Im just grateful for what ever Phil can rustle up tbh.

Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
Shortly after starting this poll this Morning it was 5-1 in favour of both mil and civil.
I went to work and forgot about it
Quite suprised now at the vote is now after the start this Morning
The poll is now alot closer with no1 on the mil side with anything to say on the subject.
Why do People have to go down the im just happy with whats there route?
This pole wasnt started with any intention of having a dig.
Cheers Rich

Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
I personally would not bother going for warbirds or civil, I prefer the focus as it is.
Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
I totaly agree with Chris. If I want civil at night I go to an civil airport ,there is always a way to get close to the gates at night to make some shots.
At a military airport there is almost no way to get so close to the apron , let alone be there enough light to make such shots.
Leave it like it is ,I say.

I voted military and civil, just to keep open the opportunity to see other part-military-part-civil-part-whatever types like the Firecat.
For warbirds hopefully the likes of North Weald and Biggin nightshoots will have them covered.

Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
Both without a doubt! It's going to take alot to beat the Tracker, so the bigger the options the better! Look forward to Phils input on this..though I can see what it'll be.

I don't think anyone is accusing you of having a dig Rich.
Some people on here, (myself included) genuinally are happy with whatever Phil arranges, that is their opinion and thats what you asked for, peoples opinions. Giving an option of both kind of covers that I think.
Cheers,
Jeff.
I know you think you understood what I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what I said is not what I meant.

Re: Northolt Nightshoot Military or Civil?
Rich, no one is saying your having a dig mate honestly. Some folk me included really are grateful for what Phil is able to conjour up on the night. I would not worry about it not being a civil affair as the civvies tend to charge appearance fees and so the price of going on a photoshoot would be allot more than we contribute at Northolt; ask any airshow organiser how much they have to pay for acts!!
Your poll was / is a good idea as it would give phil and others a good impression of what we the punters want to see at a night shoot and yes if I had to come down off the fence id go for military every time.
Thanks again for raising the debate Rich im sure folk are finding it useful
Cheers
