Flightpaths
Just wondered if anyone can enlighten me,Friday night here in Edinburgh saw aircraft bound for Edinburgh airport taking a deviation from their normal route,I see the flightpaths coming from the South, but a good few were coming from the West to East banking sharply round and heading back West toward the airport.Heard nothing mentioned on the scanner or nothing unusual, would there have been a reason for that altered route? many thanks.

Hi,
ATC although normally using STandard Arrival Routes (STAR) do often vector aircraft when its quiet or to fit aircraft around special flights eg Air Ambulance when they are active in the Termial Manouvering Areas (TMA).
Here is a link to the current Edinburgh plates hope this helps... http://folhetas.com/IVAOportugal/Charts/EGPH.pdf
