Northolt Night Photoshoot XV

Having planned to attend something has come up that means I won't be able to - shame as I was looking forward to the C-130!

Rain = wet tarmac/concrete = reflections = better and more interesting photographs

Rain in advance, maybe. Rain during, I would disagree!

It rained at the Typhoon night shoot. I was out and about in the rain and with a bit of camera protection, not a problem. I believe a lot of people came away with some nice reflection shots.

I agree, apart from the bit about rain in advance
The best event's have been in dry calm conditions with the light giving way to the "golden hour" & deep blue sky before it gets fully dark.
Rain, and I quote, just adds glare to an already glary environment
We have been largely lucky over the years with few events affected by rain, I haven't seen any particularly good reflection shots from any of the wet nights. The ramp at Northolt doesn't lend itself to decent reflections anyway.

The Northolt events have been blessed with an awful lot of dry events, considering they can be in October, March and April. These months are not known for their dry times, rather the rainy times.

Even the June events have been blessed with sunshine when the weather reports have been for torrential rain. Some members remember a red faced very hot chap at June event (2010?) in un-forecast blazing sunshine in extra layers and rain gear........that was me!

Thankfully, if it has rained there is normally somewhere to shelter. Some people might say I am a fair weather photographer and they would bloody well be right... I view this hobby as enjoyment, not an extreme environmental challenge

If a friend who wasn't on here wanted to register, is he OK to email you directly with registration details? Also is cheque the only payment option?

By 'reflection', I was referring to shots like this, where the whole aircraft is reflected, rather than just its lights - I assume Ian was/is also.
