Nonetheless, it does make a change from the usual grey, but then I expected nothing less from Kuwait.

Just out of curiosity, I know there are lot of remarks on this forum stating "Dirty Civil" whenever a pic of an airliner is posted, yet spray a Military aircraft up in what is basically a civil coulour scheme and everyone starts drooling over it ...why ??

The Qatari is in an actual airline scheme whereas the Kuwaiti is in a similar scheme to their C-130s.

Not that it bothers me personally, but some people aren't fans of civil colour schemes.

Hi, Yes Im aware of the airline liveried QATAR, however these Kuwaiti C130/DC-9/C17 although military are basically in a civilian scheme ie Gloss White etc....then theres the Fighters that are painted in very exotic colours, again gloss, which have no relationship to the normal working life of a fighter...dont get me wrong Im all for colourful schemes on whichever aircraft but I cant understand the military freaks amongst us who clammer for a brightly coloured fighter yet despise a brightly coloured airliner......personally I rather see a dirty, exhaust spattered, used Military machine than one painted up like a circus freak !

Flat season Ralph, all the Middle East trainers run their horses on the flat, whilst a lot of British run theirs during the jumps season, which is currently ongoing. But I do like your thinking, hopefully they will bring it up north to Manchester!

I don't see anything unusual in Kuwait operating C-17s. It allows Kuwait to participate alongside other Gulf Cooperation Council member states in humanitarian and disaster relief on a strategic level. GCC members such as UAE and Qatar have the same capability with their C-17s. Gulf Cooperation Council states provide huge amounts of money for disaster relief and humanitarian aid.

Qatari C-17 support for example to the Philippines after the typhoon disaster.

Prior to the C-17 purchase the Qataris had to rely on USAF C-17s to deploy emergency support such as mobile hospitals.

Can't help but wonder what a C-17 would look like in the 1970s MAC scheme (White / Grey), like this C-141A



There's precedent for these sort of "legacy" schemes in the civil world of course.
