Blenheim taxi run...

Post by DanO1978 »

Going by ARCo's Twitter, the Blenheim moved under her own steam today. Another step closer to flying...

I take it that didn't happen till the afternoon?

She was parked outside ARCo around 10am, but then was moved inside.

Knew I should have stayed longer.....

Knowing John Rmain, it probably took place after the museum closed to the public at 4 o'clock.

The photographs suggest it was very late afternoon, approaching sunset.

Now photos on UKAR. Oh dear Brian, someone beat you to it...

The exif info on the last photo has it as 15.39 so most of the public would have left by then, apart from a couple of the die hard Duxford Snaparazzi

Sorry I didn't realise there was a competition going on to see who could post first pictures from Duxford.

beautiful, when was the last time a mk1 Blenheim made way under its own steam? Has to be getting on for 70 years as i doubt any were in flying condition by 1945??

But it's not a Mk.1 Blenheim. It was built in Canada in 1943 as a Bolingbroke MK.IV T. It just has a Mk.1 nose grafted on to it.

Am I the only one who gets quite annoyed that it's being called Blenheim?

A little like calling a Buchón a Bf-109?

At least this LOOKS like a Blenheim with authentic engines. The Merlin gives the Buchón a totally different, and much less pleasing shape than a "proper" Messerschmitt.

Ok its a Bollingbroke/Blenheim hybrid, as with most warbirds i doubt it is that original anyway. Its no worse converting a low back spit to a high back.

I call it a labour of love.

I don't get annoyed about what it's called.

Perhaps you would prefer the Bolingheim, or maybe the Blenbroke

Whatever it's called, it's great to see it getting ready to fly again

A lot more people with camera bags wandering around Duxford than I would normally see on a Thursday. I wonder why.

And in anticipation of the next question, 'I know nothing'
