Which display are you most look forward to in 2015?

Post by captainfurious »

I think most would agree that 2015 is offering a rich selection of display's across a range of airshows including UK first's, a sort after French double act, Battle of Britain memorial's, some old favourites, Eastern European metal tearing up the skies, a return from the USA and a final emotional Delta farewell.

So which display are you most looking forward to?

For me, whilst I cannot wait to see the return of the Hind at RIAT, I'm most looking forward to the French Navy Role Demo at Yeovilton.

For me I think the RD, the 727 and the various BoB tributes.
With just the slightest bit of finesse, I might have made a little less mess.

Ramex Delta!

Oh and the Czech Hind, the RAF Syncro Pair and BoB flypast at RIAT and the farewell for XH558...

2. Ramex Delta (Will be brilliant seeing them)
3. Battle of Britain Tributes (Not only will it be brilliant to see 12 Spitfires, 5 Hurricanes & 1 BF109, I cannot wait for the Blenheim to return to the scene.)

I'm only doing RIAT this year and even then I'm spoilt for choice.

I've never seen a Hind, F-16 Block 52, Blenheim, Ramex Delta, Bo105 P1, Hawk T2, 11 Spitfires in the air together or a Finnish F/A-18.

What to chose? Hmmm :hypno: The Tornado trio, Mig-29 and Ramex Delta, I think.
I don't know everything there is to know about our hobby.

Kids, aviation, missus then responsibilities, (in that order)

For new displays, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Hawk T2 Role demo.

Of course, with a Swiss F-18 at Culdrose I'm looking forward to that too

Definitely the MIG-29 having never seen one before and I love the Solo Turk F-16, plus my old favourites which never get boring the Chinook and Red Arrows, of course the final displays by the Vulcan will be special and something to treasure as it will soon be a distant memory like so many other airshow greats.

RAMEX Delta
Apache duo with full pyros
Typhoon/Spitfire syncro pair
MIG29 - coz its a MIG

Interested to see what the Hawk T2 role demo is like
Shame I cannot make Yeovilton, as I'd like to catch the last hurrah for the Etendard (with added Rafales).

Well lets see, gotta try and see XH558 Vulcan before she retires, the RAF Typhoon, The Red Arrows as usual, The RAF Hawk T.2 Role Demo looks interesting, would love to try and see the BoB Typhoon at some point any idea wether she'll be used by the solo display pilot when not being used in the Synchro? Also hopefully looking forward to seeing the Royal Navy Blackcats with the Wildcats..............

If I had to pick one, it would be the French Navy Role Demo at Yeovilton.

Ramex Delta, 727 at Cosford and the CV-22B displays are all worthy of a mention though.

RAMEX Delta for me... hope they live up to the hype (and the pictures I have seen)
Vulcan - dreading it being her final season, but always love to see and hear her.
B727 - again, hope it lives up to the hype.
Czech Hind/Bo-105 (done a few hours navigating on a Bo-105 with work - BEAST!)

Battle Of Britain commemoration flypast events - yes, but what will be flying that one can't see most years at Duxford anyhow? Always good to see lots of aircraft in the sky naturally. I guess it will have the 'wow' factor at the time. I get the poignancy of it of course; but as a hair raising spectacle of excitement? I am looking forward to it, but it won't be my highlight this season.

<before I get shot down (no pun intended) for disrespect, I doff my cap in thanks and admiration every year to be fair - and not only to the air force>

Ones already seen -
Blenheim in formation with 2 x Spitfire Mk1s... That was sauce that was...
B-17 and a five fighters of various types and colours (VE Day tribute)...

Hoping it lives up to the hype!

2. Solo Turk F16 at Bournemouth

Will blow the thousands of non-enthusiasts away  (hopefully not literally! )

3. Swansong of the Vulcan

The 2014 display was much improved over 2013, let's hope 2015 they stop fannying around protecting the airframe/engines and simply FLY THE NUTS OFF the old bird like the good old times before she's forced into retirement

I'm going to keep it to a top three, in the UK and in order,

1st - MiG-29 at Cosford, almost a dream come true for my local airshow

2nd - French Navy role demo at Yeovilton, it'll be my first visit to Yeovilton and probably my last chance to see Super Entendart

3rd - Swiss Hornet at Cosford, again another dream participant that has really made Cosford unmissable this year :yahoo:

but truly there are so many things to look forward to in this "decline of the UK airshow scene". Ramex Delta, Zeus, CV-22, Blenheim, hopefully Sea Vixen, T2 Role Demo, Apache Role Demo and of course, the Vulcan's swansong. Plus RIAT have still got plenty of time to throw up a couple of surprises...

Finally I'm off the Sanicole in September and I'm really looking forward to the evening show, fingers crossed the weather plays ball!

The solo Typhoon display is using a different aircraft I think.

The solo display at Duxford was performed using the B of B jet on Saturday and the Anniversary Jet on Sunday, so both it would seem.

Personally, I think next weekend, standing on the tower balcony as Ramex scream in for their opening pass in beautiful blue skies* will be my highlight of the year!

If I can get to all the shows :

Cosford - P-3, B727, Ramex Delta, Mig-29, Meteor NF11.
Yeovilton - Super Etendard French Navy Role Demo, Mig-15, Canberra PR.9 (again), Sea Vixen.
Fairford - Blenheim, Mil-24/35, Mig-29, Osprey.

For now, really want to see the Comet Racer too this year..
