I think the Irish CASA has finally made it, some turbo-prop woke me up at 5.45 as it flew over the hotel.

Edit. It was a Hercules with a medical patient on board.

Fantastic nightshoot again with some absolute surprise gems! Never thought I'd catch the RR Hawk, and it's the first time all season I've seen the special Chinook. Real quality items.

Big thanks to the Gazelle pilot for delaying his ground run to give us a chance to catch both.

Very nice to catch up with some known and meet new people as well.

Superb nightshoot as always. Cheers to Phil, Lee, Sam and others.

The Helio Courier sounded fantastic.

Great night Phil... Loved the Courier! The Falcon was very nice, Chinook blew me to pieces while trying to pan at 1/10th... results are interesting  Also great to see the RR Hawk and Gazelle.

Roll on the next one

They were in bay 3, the hangar doors were opened for the MD900 to be towed inside then left for a few minutes.

Thanks for organising this! The Hawk and Chinook were the highlights for me.

I'm amazed no one has commented on the layout in this thread though because there were plenty moaning about it on the night. Not entirely sure the new layout worked at all, hopefully we can return to the norm next year!

What happened to the Police helicopters by the way?

Nor I, some warning would've been nice for them as I was down the other end when the air ambulance was towed in.

They only drop in if they can? Layout was OK, Phil did his best as we got out to the Hawk and also down further for the Chinook... and then the Curiour moved also..? I'd imagine the bigger stuff on a nightshoot would go back to normal.

No one has commented because if you had listened to the briefing you would have heard that there were civilian aircraft parked on 32Sqn pan and they left to late to be able to move the night shoot aircraft into their regular place.

There's no need to act like that.

I heard it loud and clear but that doesn't mean that it worked any better.

I wasn't there for the briefing, arriving slightly late... from what Brian is saying they had to park stuff out the way, so it wasn't meant to work, it's what had to be done.

Let us not forget, the organization of these nightshoots is all done around the workings of an active RAF base with many civil aircraft too.
I think we are lucky for this privelege
We were escorted to the Hawk as required, and the Helio moved later on (Great Sound  )
The Chinook was a fab surprise addition :yahoo:

I had a great evening, and would like to thank Phil and the other organizers for the event, and of course ,the crews for bringing the aircraft.
Looking forward to the next shoot

So, if you heard the briefing and was told why the aircraft were parked in the way that they were, then what's your issue?

My issue was that the layout was a little frustrating and made it more difficult to get the normal uncluttered shots. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, it wasn't ideal.

The shoot was £31 so I don't think it's that unreasonable to have an opinion on it. :cuppa:

Regardless of whether you like it or not people have paid good money & are entitled to an opinion.

What makes the night shoot an untouchable subject ? airshows get criticised on this website all the time.

It's a bargain. A great night out with an immense amount of organisation from Phil and his team.
