Monarch Airlines To Cease Trading?
Re: Monarch Airlines To Cease Trading?
So basically they have secured external financing for the order of 737's that they've already placed about a year ago.

If that 45 figure is a firm order then it means they've also taken up the extra option from the original 2014 order (which was 30 firm and an option on another 15).

Funny that. I mean actually quite amusing. I expect s/he's still recovering from their 'hardcore clubbing' and they wouldn't have been on to say 'I told you so' if Monarch had gone up the swanny on Friday...

HOT NEWS........ Wednesday is not a great night for Hard-core Clubbing, so the CAA chose '12 days' so their spokesperson & part-time (even more partly dubious) clairvoyant 'Dr Rammstein' could afford the crystal-ball his full attention.

Nice one stagger2 - it's a heck of a hangover he's got to not even make it back to his computer yet to come on and have some humble pie. It's going off, I might have to eat it myself soon

Unless you're a University student ( or is it only Cardiff where the clubs have student nights on Wednesdays ? )

As for Rammstein, I'm basing nothing on speculation. Gone by Friday.

Access to the forum IP address matching tool comes in handy for mods.....

Is it our friend from the Scampton thread? I doubt it but that would be brilliant

Was expecting it to be the intensely 'committed' (or...should be??) poster formerly known as the all-knowing "n0143337" going for a 3-0 drubbing against the ill-informed UKAR Massif.

Time for a Forum Rule #26, perhaps, in line with many other fora......No 'sock-puppet' accounts ?
( And for those who don't know what a 'sock puppet' is, it's where someone has multiple registered user-names on a forum )

"It [the now confirmed Scampton Airshow 2017] will never happen. Fact. Just like the time I told you all Waddington wasn't coming back. This is the same level of fact."
It does sound like him doesn't it? I hope he's OK, he never came back to apologise for that one either...

So how does that work?
Monarch buy the aircraft, immediately sell them back to Boeing who then immediately lease them to Monarch?
Re: Monarch Airlines To Cease Trading?
They're usually bought by the airline, sold to a leasing company and then leased from the leasing company.
Many airlines do this - Ryanair and Emirates have both done this.

So why does the leasing company not just buy them? It must cost the airline quite a bit in fees/costs for negotiations etc.

Branson has started to buy instead of lease his aircraft now ! British Midlands Sir Michael Bishop on the other hand although owning BM started up his own leasing company to buy the planes then lease them back to his own airline

UK Daily Telegraph 10 Mar.
"Monarch Airlines CEO Andrew Swaffield has assured staff the deal will go through although not before the deadline day." The 12 day extention expires Wednesday.
"At the same time Monarch has attracted the interest of the Chinese conglomerate HNA GROUP, which also owns Swissport, reigniting speculation that stake in the carrier may be up for sale."

That's good news for the Airline and it's employees and keeps the competition for other British airlines.
Re: Monarch Airlines To Cease Trading?
Poor business from its Equity owners. The world now knows how desperate they are over future re-financing. Monarch will be sold up and shipped out within 12 months
