Booked my Mach 3 pass for RIAT for the first year last week, which is very exciting. Yeovilton, as always, because it is local and generally, regardless of the light conditions, a good day out. I Booked the Abingdon weekend off from work because I have always wanted to go, but that will be line up dependant. I have been contemplating doing a Shuttleworth and as my brother is at uni near, a visit may have to coincide with a weekend when a show is on.

Fairly quiet compared to others, but a summer which I am very much looking forward to!

I have tickets for Cosford, RIAT and Scampton, so they will be the foundation of my season. It seems a little early to do anything but pencil in anything else. Its not a Farnborough year, so I'll probably go to Legends, and Rhyl and Southport are staples of my season. Maybe the Fly Navy Shuttleworth show, and I won't rule out a trip abroad.

Disappointed so far that Landivisiau doesn't seem to be planning a show at Tiger Meet time. That would be well worth doing.

Most of mine will be overseas this year,

Sola
RIAT (mach 3)
Selfridge ANGB open house
Dover AFB open house
A couple of shows in Japan & South Korea, don't know which ones yet but they'll be in October
Numerous base visits in the US, Japan & South Korea as well.
Shuttleworth (unlikely really as I can't get there or back)

A small amount compared to most but should have some really cool stuff in there

Don't think I'll be doing any shows in the UK this year - so far this is what I have planned:

NTM
Kjeller Flydagen
Sola Airshow
Eggemoen Historiske Flyshow
Poznan Aerofestival
MAKS

I am not pre-booking much of anything this year unfortunately, as I have had operation on foot that wasn't healing and not sure when it will recover. I expect I will only make 2 or 3 shows this year so far, which is less shows than I have done for 20 years.

RIAT- Booked for Saturday
Flying Legends- Only missed 2 since 1995, so will do all I can to be there
Biggin Hill- It's my local show and I hopefully will be there.

I still would like to do Dunsfold before it's redeveloped, but not sure if I can get there at all.

I am hoping it will be a great and safe season for everyone.

Probably Shuttleworth only this year, maybe the Fly Navy Show if the Vixen is going to be there. Maybe Brunty if I have the spare cash.

It looks like I will give IAT a miss this year after 20 years of going. It's getting a tad too much effort to get there not too mind getting up a crazy times to get a good spot now that Rhymes is gone.
Cheers

Sooo, 2017 :) Not all airshows, but lots in the works with Threshold.aero that'll keep me busy!

Gazelle 50th - 8 April
Abingdon - 14 May
Landivisiau (TBC) - 8 June
Cosford - 11 June
Blackbushe - 1/2 July
Yeovilton - 8 July
RIAT - 14 July
Rhyl (TBC) - 26/27 July
Scampton (TBC) - 10 September
Southport (TBC) - 15/16 September

And then Threshold.aero photoshoots and nightshoots in March, July, and October.

Not a massive list for me as most my weekends are marshalling at Silverstone.

So..........

Great Yarmouth
RIAT
Silverstone Classic (as it has flying elements)

Possibly the fly navy event at shuttleworth.

A recent re-jig of plans (moving my Western USA trip to either Nov this year or March next year) has freed up a bit more annual leave to use on aviation events, so my plans now include

RIAT
Yeovilton :ninja:
NTM Landivisiau
Old Warden Fly Navy or La Ferte Alais (not sure Ill get away with LFA & then going back to France a couple of days later)
Old Warden evening show if weather is good
Bucharest - if they announce a date AND dont change it fairly late on like last year
Weapons Meet Florennes (depends if clashes with NTM)
Axalp

I would have liked to add MAKS to the list but its too close to the solar eclipse, MAKS will be on again in 2 years, might not get as good a chance of an eclipse for many more years so that has taken priority.

Theres not much that interests me in the UK these days, the UK Scene seems to be too much hassle for the opportunities it provides, Id rather go abroad where adults are treated as such.

Very few events 100% definite for me at this stage but current thoughts are:

A Shuttleworth evening show (not been to one to date)
Tiger Meet at Landivisiau - very much looking forward to this but the location/choice of spottersday/ferry times have all conspired to require a bit more time off work than planned. This will almost certainly impact attendance elsewhere
Yeovilton - never really gave Yeovilton much thought leading up to last year but if viewed as overall enjoyment / expectation it was my favourite UK event
RIAT - will almost certainly be going but not sure how many of the pre and post show days I'll get to yet
Scampton - hope to get to it
Joint Warrior 2 - will keep an eye on this, a long way off yet.

A fairly standard list this year I think.

Welshpool
RIAT Friday and Saurday
Scampton probably
Southport - hopefully the Friday evening show will go ahead this year
