These look good. (Course other Battle of Britain books of a miscellany format are available from all good online and high street stockists).

While it's good to stay clear of mythology, it should always be remembered it was the plucky 'Few' that mostly shot down the actual aircraft of the Luftwaffe and it was the depletion of this resource that worried high command. It might not have been a close run thing but it wasn't a certainty either.

With increasing access to original ww2 and post war official sources plus anecdotes resulting in more recent books and programmes I feel that a much clearer picture of ww2 is emerging from the shroud of earlier propaganda driven contemporary reports and books. James Holland is one of several writers who has shone a new light on events. The shock on reading several of the more recent publications and programmes is just how the end results very nearly ended in disaster for the allies. Despite many early setbacks the fortitude is evident and the courage that so many found to keep going is to be admired. I do not overlook the damage caused to peoples mental health, the stresses were massive and its not a surprise to ponder that many veterans just never discussed what they saw.

Fantastic illustrations all done by Keith Burns GAVA. I believe that there will be a series of 12 books covering all of WWII. Keith's work is superb and well worth checking out, especially for any Beau fighter or Mosquito fans. Keith did the artwork for the recent revival of Jonny Red too.
