What is your favourite airline?

Post by Euan Buchan »

Mine has always been British Airways. When I was younger and plane watching I loved the BA design in the 1990’s I wasn’t mad keen when they changed their design to it is now but got to enjoy it now but I still love the old design better. I don’t fly with BA often (normally fly with EasyJet, Ryanair & Jet2) but I love their great leg room on their flights.

We normally fly to Australia once a year and usually fly Singapore airlines and so far we have not had any issues. We fly to Brisbane on Friday via Hong Hong with BA and Qantas so it will be good to compare.

I usually try to fly with Aer Lingus as much as possible. Always enjoyed flying with them.

Always been happy when I’ve flown BA and I’ve been lucky to experience flying in all the different classes with them. When it comes to my experiences across all airlines I’ve flown with in economy I’d have to say that JAL were absolutely excellent in space, comfort, cleanliness, food and service. Never had a bad experience when I’ve flown Finnair as well.

Can't really say that I have a 'favourite airline'.

Aren't BA the world's favourite airline?

The best I've experienced is Emirates - by quite some margin. Flying with them is still something of an occasion, which has been diluted in a lot of the flag carriers now. I'm sure there are others as good though, I'v heard good things about Singapore Airlines although I haven't had the pleasure yet.

I have flown MAN to AUK and MAN to BNE with Emirates and thoroughly enjoyed it and could not fault it. However I did a MAN to MEL with Qatar and felt rather disappointed with it.

Is this?

(And yes, I realise this is also...)

BA for me. I'd heard pretty dire things about Air India too but used them 6 times in 2014 and nothing but good experiences.
With just the slightest bit of finesse, I might have made a little less mess.

Having flown long haul this year with BA in economy (777 ER), not impressed. Reclining seats in your face for hours! Poor food. It is Cathay Pacific for me, their new A350-900s are a superb experience even in economy.

I haven't got a favourite either, but I'm concerned nobody has chose Virgin Atlantic as their favourite. We fly with them in January to Florida, for my Daughters make a wish.
I don't know everything there is to know about our hobby.

Kids, aviation, missus then responsibilities, (in that order)

British Airways are truly absymal. For a flag carrier, they are little more than Ryanair with better uniforms and double the prices these days - at least on short-haul.

Lufthansa are consistently good, and Qatar, Qantas and Virgin have always looked after me well in Business Class. TAM Brazil’s business service was like being sat in the 1970s for ten hours.

Have to agree with Dan. Lufthansa are an absolutely fantastic airline, as are Qantas and Emirates.

Can't say I'm a massive fan of Etihad though, particularly poor service a few years back has put me off them a tad.

Great music though - Alvin Stardust, T.Rex, Slade, Gary Glitter, Wizzard, Roy Wood, ELO, The Bay City Rollers, David Bowie, Sweet and The Move. Not to mention pints of Watney's Red Barrel for 20p!

Singapore airlines to travel with. They’re superb. Favourite livery has got to be that Malysian A350!

Oh yes, I agree, I've flown with them a few times. On one of them the pilot made quite a heavy landing, and the flight attendant said, 'sorry folks, he was a navy pilot and he's used to landing on carrier's!'

I had a hard landing in Chicago with American Airlines.

The flight attendant said “As some of you may have noticed, we’ve HIT the runway here at Chicago BANG on time”

Emphasis as highlighted.

Any which gets me down in one piece - with the added bonus of luggage arriving at the same time.
