I'm less than 300 metres from and parallel to the runway at Birmingham. The Police chopper regularly hovers over our garden waiting to cross the runway at night!
At least one military movement a week (usually a Voyager at the weekend), at the height of the Afghanistan campaign we had a C-17 in almost daily brining in wounded so it was never a happy sight.
Recently we've had Irish Air Corps movements too.
Do you get views of passing aircraft where you live?

Which end of the runway?

I'm also within sight of aircraft on approach to Edinburgh, although when they reach me they're at the 'gently descending before turning left at Inchcolm' stage!
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...
