What's the southernmost site that could arguably have a Tornado connection?

From Laarbruch to Lossiemouth? Could be quite the trip.

I wonder where the best spot to see them will be.

I expect Marham will be packed.

I'd guess that anywhere en - route or to the side of the route (the latter being preferable for me), as they wont be low level, that's for sure. Maybe 1000ft?

wonder when they will publish the route to give us all the chance to see them?

Even if the RAF doesn't publish the route, there will be a NOTAM issued. I'm guessing they manage to get 9 airworthy they'll also have to do at least one practice formation flight

Not sure where the author got the 22 airframes from. All the indications says there are 17 left

Did the GR's ever go down there? I can imagine they may have tried it, but can't recall it happening.

They should do the same as with the Vulcan Farewell, A North UK Tour one day and A South UK Tour on another? Will be interesting to hear where they go over. I think most Airfields in UK have some connection with the Tornado. Unless it's just the Bases they were based at so Marham, Honington and Lossiemouth then back to Marham. Quick Tour that one.

As said - Cottesmore, Warton plus Boscombe Down, Coningsby...Valley if you want to include STCAAMI dets. Holbeach, Donna Nook, Wainfleet, Spadeadam, STANTA, Tain etc plus most of the UK due to their proliferation at low level - certainly had plenty over here in Staffs over the years.

Just wondering, will this be confined to bases where the type operated, or include places where components - engines, radar etc were designed / built, like Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, GEC Marconi, Ferranti etc?

Although some would say there would have been more flying if it hadn't been for the cock-ups they made there in the '90s.

Where was the RB199 designed and engineered (at least the RR bit of it)? Was it at Filton? Please say it was at Filton.
