Cool news, but it makes me wonder what the point of the Titan A321s are.

Heh, quite.

In other news, NavyWings’ Wasp has had a repaint:

I missed this post from a couple of weeks ago.

As good as these 2 look I do feel they have missed a bit of a trick here in not putting the re-paint in the markings of XT429 from HMS Plymouth that served in the Falklands as it is the 40th anniversary this year.

As a general rule, I’m not sure gloss paint really works with camouflage, but then again, I can’t remember when the IAC last did a special, so who are we to complain! 😂

Images of the RAF’s Wedgetails (sans any kit) starting to emerge:

Interesting that it’s new build. I thought I had read something along the lines of using existing unsold 737 ‘frames to save costs.

I guess after the 737 debacle of a couple of years ago "new build" and "existing unsold" could be the same thing.

All Wedgetails are built as Boeing Business Jets, and are then converted to E-7s. Our first two are second hand airframes, each over ten years old, and are currently under conversion in Birmingham (UK). These are:

N946BC c/n 38633, l/n 3329 ex B-5273 (first flight in 2010)
N947BC c/n 40117, l/n 3702 ex VP-BOP (first flight in 2011)

The one in the image is our third airframe, freshly off the assembly line (N576JK c/n 66840, l/n 9103). I don't know if it will be converted by Boeing in the US, or be flown to Birmingham to join our other two.

The intended RAF serials are not yet known.

Lovely stuff! First bit of positive news relating to classic jets that we've had for some time now. Although there was that glimmer of hope that the Thunder City jets may rumble again...
