A friend shared this photo with me thinks this might be aviation related - the vehicle reg is 1928. The vehicle looks as if it is stuck in a hedge or something. I just cant work it out - ideas anyone

Another pointless supposedly amusing post, I see....
A serious reply would be that it's an early fresnel optical landing light.

It looks rather heavy duty for anything that might leave the ground.
How about naval or agricultural?
What is the number plate ? YU339? YJ339? Where do you get 1928 from? Do you know where it was taken?

It looks like part of a boiler.

Re: Any ideas on what this might be
I agree with Toom317 - looks like part of a steam locomotive boiler.

Looks to be a large boiler, certainly not for a locomotive, could be industrial or maybe for a naval ship judging by the cap on the guy standing next to it

Never seen a boiler ( steam or oil ) with mixed perimeter bolt/nut sizes.

Re: Any ideas on what this might be
It doesn’t look like a boiler to me. It looks like the lorry has jack knifed into a ditch off the side of the road and in doing so it has dislodged some of the timber bracing that is coming out at an angle into the trees above the guys head on the right hand side of the photo so I’m guessing it’s a flat rather than cylindrical object like a boiler
Re: Any ideas on what this might be
Could be part of a large industrial type washing machine or tumble dryer. I've seen similar in some of the factories I've worked in.

Re: Any ideas on what this might be
I was thinking that 'large industrial type washing machines' didn't exist around 1930 in the UK. A quick check only shows more domestic applications. Main thing for me is that I see 'tubes', not perforated mesh? The fixings (bolts) are way too numerous & big for an assembly that isn't associated with a pressure vessel. If the picture is inverted I see a locomotive cross-section profile?
