Thomas Cook folded

Post by Zoom »

Surprised it's not been covered yet;

Rather sad taxiing past all the parked TC planes at LGW last night. My EJ flight was delayed unloading pax due to a heavy demand on buses. Pilot said there were a lot of extra flights bringing peeps home.

Only ever used them once for a holiday 4 years ago, their business model seemed on the way out even then, 500 high street shops? :shock:

wondering what will happen to their (and their subsidiaries') planes?

Can only speak for Cardiff Airport, but the repatriation flights have been using the exact-same aircraft which were originally scheduled for the Thomas Cook flights - they're off lease from TC ( naturally ) and are now operating under the 'Smart Lynx' banner.

Weird looking on FR24 to see OY registered in Thomas Cook colours.I bet the passengers stranded in the Canaries where 4 flights are arriving later are confused.I understand the Scandinavian division is not affected yet but I am sure questions will be asked like why is there a Thomas Cook aircraft at the airport and people are disembarking and boarding.

Several YL- registered Thomas Cook schemed aircraft are being used for repatriation flights, as Brevet said, under the "Smart Lynx" banner.

Apparently Tui had thousands of passengers booked with the airline and they have cancelled all advance bookings which makes the situation even worse.

Was such a shame they were good, but not sure if its true or not but heard Jet2 will be hiring Thomas Cook staff to join them.

Why is it such a shame that they were good? :dizzy:

I think it was supposed to read "Was such a shame. They were good."

I know the grammar was poor, but it wasn't that hard to decipher in my view!

Thanks for that, I've just re-read it and I see what you mean now.

Whichever moderator it was, you didn't do a very good job of it.

The repat flights now appear to be using Titan's 3 letter AWC airline code...plenty of them on FR24 with an interesting mix of aircraft...believe the blue Hi Fly A380 was used on Tuesday for a flight into Gatwick from Tunisia.Have also seen on FR24 Danish Air Transport MD80's,various Spanish A320/A330's/747's etc.
Currently a Gowair Spain A320 and an Atlas Global of Turkey A330 as well as the aforementioned SmartLynx A320's plus a Titan 767 overhead the UK.
