Good find FB, thanks

The quality is really impressive given the age of the film.

Indeed, the feeling of nostalgia is pungent enough to affect all, I was at Leuchars in 1972, so within the period, I personally recall four of 23's Lightnings teamed up with four Phantoms from 43. They split to perform their respective formation display sets, the Lightnings went first, fuel restrictions I think, their finale was the needle threading individual low fast passes followed by the zoom climb up into what was a heavy but high cloud base, the leader found a hollow which they all disappeared into. The Phantoms carried out a formation break toward the crowdline, full afterburner and low enough to remind all just how big an aircraft the F-4 is!

Brought a tear to the eye  Set me scouring the depths of Youtube for Lightning stuff. This has to be one of the best. Things get really interesting from about 6 minutes in   The comments below make interesting reading too as the pilot of XP693 has now seen the vid and commented

Bloody marvellous Pat, that chap who flew close enough to cut the grass before disappearing skyward, was he reported for breaching Health & Safety regs?
