TR-1/U-2 Patch Value/Age

Post by jingernut »

Found the following patch in a bunch of stuff I have.

The main "patch" is printed on the yellow fabric and then stitched/embroidered around the edges.

Can't find anything online similar.

Anyone able to help with value (if any) and ID/Useage?

Can't see yours, but this gives you a rough idea what other are asking for their U-2 patches.

Would suggest if printed on cloth this is a simple "airshow" job from the 80s/90s.
Secondly the TR-1 reference was only used by the Alconbury aircraft. The aircraft from Beale bring referred to as U-2. Each had a different role and equipment fix.
So unlikely a single USAF unit would have used both names.

I have managed to sell it to a collector of U2 patches. It's apparently a type used to go on backpacks and jackets.

I think Doughnut is right. I'm pretty sure that this is an 'airshow' back patch produced by Terrane back in the early 90's. Terrane did a lot of work for the TR-1's at Alconbury back then. This was probably made for an Alconbury / Mildenhall airshow.
