I'm not sure this is particularly new to anyone...? Haha

Not exactly new, although they are still in the early stages of service introduction. The Su-57 is what used to be called the T-50, the first flight of which was back in 2010.
Re: New Russian 5th gen fighter
I think what's meant here is that the first production Su-57 has been delivered to the VKS though.
Cheers

Re: New Russian 5th gen fighter
It isn't the first production aircraft, the first one crashed during a pre-delivery test flight.
Re: New Russian 5th gen fighter
Which would mean the VKS never took delivery, hence this is the first production delivered...
Cheers

Lovely looking aircraft. I hope to see one some day. The camouflage pattern is quite effective too. Much better than black.

The story behind this first/second delivery Su-57 'Felon' is included with better photo's in this link. All Credit to Scramble.nl.

Re: New Russian 5th gen fighter
As an aside to the post, is there any reason why Sukhoi seem to have overtaken MiG, as Russia's prime military aircraft manufacturer?

Re: New Russian 5th gen fighter
They’re now technically one company - the UAC.
MiG currently make the MiG-35 and the MiG-29K both of which have export orders, their only manufacturing plant also makes the Yak-130.
Russia are supposedly studying a new light weight fighter idea and if so, it’s likely that will be a MiG.

Aaaahhh, thanks Andy!
It just seemed that MiG had dropped off the radar, so to speak!
