International Sanicole Airshow 2022

Post by Tommy »

Set for September 10/11th.

German Army NH90 display has confirmed:
https://www.sanicole.com/en/nh-90-tacti ... YzmyHPGkRg

I think many Belgian assets have self-confirmed, along with the Blades and Swiss F/A-18 solo display.

Google translate:

The French Air Force are masters of displaying sleek displays showing simulated tactics. This year we welcome one with the omnirole fighter to the French arsenal: two powerful Rafales will thunder through the Sanicole sky as team 'Requin Mike'.

These twin-engined fighter jets come from the EC1/4 “Gascogne” and EC2/4 “La Fayette” units, both squadrons with a long history dating back to the 1930s. Based at Saint-Dizier in northeastern France, they are an important part of France's nuclear deterrent force. With the Rafale, they certainly have an aircraft capable of rivaling any threat in the air or on the ground, and their tight, action-packed presentation will aptly present different modes of air interceptions and ground strikes.

Don't miss this tactical performance and visit the international Sanicole Airshow on September 10 & 11, 2022!

It's shaping up to be an interesting show. I'm assuming that the Twilight show might be a bit busier now they have moved it to the Saturday night?
Fingers crossed for good weather.

Does anyone know if the parking will be the same as last year (where we parked opposite the airfield) or whether it will revert back to shuttle cars as in previous years?

Many thanks

Parking will be back to the shuttlebus system like 2019 as this year, we are back to full capacity unlike 2021. There is still some parking across the airfield depending on the direction of travel, just as it was in 2019.

Spottersday will be limited to Saturday, so not on Monday anymore.

Thank you for the update.

That’s a real shame as I thought the “2021 Covid parking” was much, much better and far less hassle than waiting for shuttle buses. Oh well.

There is a free shuttlebus service to and from the trainstation of Leopoldsburg.

The website will be online in the coming week and the ticketsales will start for newsletter insiders, so you'll find all information there.

If it’s as good as the F-22 Raptor demo they did at Fairford in 2010 it will be amazing.

It's actually perfectly walkable from Leopoldsburg railway station....impossible to get lost too, it's a straight road out of the town. There are shuttle busses as well from there, but I just walked to be honest.

Thank you, where's the best place to get the train to Leopoldsburg from? Eindhoven?

Honestly, from Eindhoven public transport to Leopoldsburg I'd call a non-starter, you'd need a car.
Leopoldsburg is situated on the line from Hasselt to Mol in Belgium. Hasselt would be the more obvious choice for lodging reasons, if you are the patient type you can also look at Antwerp but that's already a MUCH longer train trip.

So, when I did this show (twice) I flew into Charleroi from Manchester, got the train from there to Brussels Central, then another train to Hasselt where my hotel was. Hasselt to Leopoldsburg is like a 20mins train ride, really easy. There's a cool Sherman tank outside Leopoldsburg Station too! 😁 I think the long straight roads around there were used by the Armoured divisions prior to Market Garden as staging areas or something.

Well it’s certainly an excellent show and we’ll worth the visit. The twilight show itself is outstanding.

You haven’t mentioned which days you are going and whether you’ve booked your accommodation or bought your tickets yet. The tickets are going fast and a couple of categories have already sold out.

Worrying about how to get there may be largely academic if you can’t get a room or a ticket.

As i'd be coming all that way, i'd probably do the Saturday and Sunday. I haven't booked any accommodation or travel yet!

What are the different categories? Maybe i'm just being silly, but the site only let's me sign up as an insider?

No, you are not being silly. General ticket sales only open next week (at lower discount).

Ah! Sign up to be an insider NOW.
Insiders had an email with a link to buy advanced tickets earlier this week but you can still get a discount when the tickets go on general sale next week.
