After missing a couple of years due to Covid restrictions, the AAAA's fly-in returned this year and was held at a new location. Wangaratta aerodrome, in NE Victoria, was the new venue and it was a vast improvement over the previous one.
This year's event celebrated the 70th anniversary of the C180 and about a dozen of them attended for the weekend. A few warbirds, some modern and classic aircraft, and a handful of home-builts made up the attendees. Sadly, numbers were down this year because low cloud to the south prevented some Melbourne-based aircraft from attending.

Great set, looked like a good event. Never got my head around larger aircraft using the numer registration system is Aus? Thought that was mostly for microlights? Assume they are flown under certian restrictions?

Thanks to everyone who commented.
I believe that there’s a MTOW limit for aircraft operated under the RA system. I have only ever flown VH-registered aircraft, so I’m not familiar with all the details.farnboroughrob wrote: ↑Sun 08 May 2022, 11:15 am…Never got my head around larger aircraft using the numer registration system is Aus? The AAAA fly-in has been on my radar for many years, and it looks like it was a great event! Thanks for sharing such a variety of quality photos and subjects.
Lockheed VH-HID arrived in New Zealand for its new owner yesterday, so it's quite timely for me to have just stumbled upon these photos!

Oh, I didn't know that it was heading across the ditch! Hopefully, I'll catch up with it when I attend Omaka next year.
