Great Update! I heard we could expect the Midnight Hawks this years too! Anyone have an idea as to when we can expect to read about what took place at the FRIAT meeting a while back? Usually there's a Q&A and this is then posted on here ?

Did you, who from? The Fins have already confirmed their solo Hawk display so would imagine the Midnight Hawks would have announced at the same time.

Shame about the NH90 cancelling, but more than made up for by the Italian update (IMHO of course...)

Italy really support RIAT and we should do the same in return

Wonder what are the chances of a flying display of a Rafale M from the French Navy, Soloturk from Turkey and something from the US Navy. I think anything else flying will be a bonus

Sorry I should have stated where I got that info from. Milavia.Net have the Midnight Hawks down as Attending this year's show.

I get the impression that somebody high up in the Italian Air Force has thoroughly enjoyed a visit or two to RIAT back in the day.
I have fond memories of the Frecce ground crew running a limbo dance competition at the hangar party using a roll of stickers as the limbo pole :joy: :man_dancing_tone1:

Absolutely fantastic support from the Italians as well as the update from America.

Shame about Finnish but these things happen.

That might be the solo hawk that they've just put down as the midnight hawks.

Site has been updated now - it is the Piaggio P.166 & a Bulldog that has Cancelled, along with the Finn NH-90.

The T-339A for static is a little gem!

Last appearance (non Frecce Tricolori) it seems was 2004!

I think there was one in 2010, but still quite a catch indeed! (Unless you mean the one in 2010 was a T-339CD or something)

Also I hope the flying display will be extended to end later, rather than to start sooner.
When the sun has gone out of position, which is always a good move.
They should put out an announcement saying what the new times are. I think I actually recall someone from DBH saying in 2018 that the display time can't be extended too much after 5pm because they have some sort of agreement signed which prohibits flying after 5 (or it might have been 5.30)

I can't recall it ever starting before ten but pretty sure I've been enjoying displays to at least 6 in the past. Might be wrong though!

I am hopeful the extension is to the later part and not early part of the day. On the Sunday the first train into Swindon doesn't get me there until after 9am so back in 2017 & 2019 I was only coming in as the show was starting.

They have to decide what and where everything goes first.
Don't they have this "Longest Day" thing where they work out the flight program, must take some planning and i guess they need to know exactly what is coming.
Guess there is a noise embargo i guess from around 10 - 6?maybe 7pm?

Yeah I remember one year the Osprey was ready to display and we could see it holding in the distance but it had to cancel because other displays took too long and the osprey lost its display slot.

The Black Eagles are flown to UK (in a big aircraft) put together. And start their campaign supported by 3 C-130s. So 1 or more might also be at Fairford I guess for one or more days
After the UK the Black Eagles fly to different locations in Europe, Egypt Philippines and other mentioned countries all the way back to S.Korea. A 20,000 mile trip! Supported by the 3 C-130s.
As it stands currently, the ROKAF Hercules will not be present at RAF Fairford at any stage.

I get that there may be problems with the A-10 but I would have though the F-35 heritage flight isn’t too difficult, and they could use an RAF Lakenheath jet?
Still need to get the whole Demo Team across to the UK to borrow the jets, which isn't cheap.

Nope, it's the Hawk solo display (plus spare aircraft) from the Finnish Air Force.

Particularly pleased to see the AMX & T-339, are there any AMXs still painted in special schemes?
We have asked the question.

Indeed, resplendent in new colours. However they're current waiting for spare parts to be delivered to overcome a major serviceability issue. Maybe 2023...

Still some work to be done before we publicly announce the revised flying display timings, but we are now looking at an eight hour programme to fit everyone in on the Saturday & Sunday. No noise embargos, but we do try and be good neighbours to our local residents where possible.

Cheers,
Peter
