So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
For the first time for many years (apart from Covid19 years), looks like I will miss the airshow.
Unless someone has any tickets for sale or there is a way to buy them somehere still?

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Tbh from what’s been listed you aren’t missing much. Looks like the poorest Cosford show for 20 years.
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
People who no longer wanted to go were trying to flog them on one of the Facebook groups.
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
All coincidentally had 4 tickets for sale because of family emergencies.

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Sadly, its become common throughout. I run the FB for our local airshow, it didn't go ahead this year. Yet we got posts saying "I have 4 tickets for sale"
It is/was a free seaside show with no paid hospitality lol.

Yeah the scammers are out in force for every event these days, I’d only buy from someone you trust.
It’s come about due to e-tickets, which the unscrupulous can sell over and over. Only the first users will actually get in.

They were for sale on the gate!! Im serious. Signs said if no ticket get in right lane. Sure enough a mini car park further on where people were then buying, and I dont mean 2 cars, there must have been about 15 there in the 'drive through'.
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
That’s just mental. Who were selling them
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Looked like cadets or real RAF, all in camo uniform. Drivers just holding credit cards through windows. We can imagine why, you turn up right at the gate without a ticket, there is honestly no way out that they can direct you. Even if they did get you off base somehow I cant see how leaving the area would be easy. Not that seeing someone wait 4 hours until the traffic was reversed would bother me.
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Doesn’t make sense. No ticket equals no entry. End of.

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Really hope they didn't just let people in. That would set a terrible precedent, imagine the absolute bedlam trying to get in next year if it's a set out but people think they can just pay on the gate anyway.
Sounds harsh but I hope they had to pay a "fine" (call it parking or something) while they sat in a holding area for hours unable to see anything and were then escorted off. There was plenty of notices beforehand saying no tickets no entry.

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
I have to agree: this is either a really poor decision by someone or - just possibly - a very sensible one to at least get those who ignored the signs in and out of the way safely.
Either way I wonder a) what they were charged and b) what explanation will be given.
You simply can't (or at least shouldn't) turn up at a sold out ticketed event without a ticket and be allowed in, unless there are very good reasons.
Off topic I know, but I've wondered in the past if people try this at RIAT - get in early so they get a good spot in the car park and then stay there all day (there are loos so you could get away with it!).

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Granted there was only 2 of us in our car but they only checked 1 ticket. Could have been many like that today!!!
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Have often wondered that myself, before anyone jumps on me I would never try it but there might be a few who get in early to the car parking, take own food and make use of the car park toilets and never pay for a ticket.Off topic I know, but I've wondered in the past if people try this at RIAT - get in early so they get a good spot in the car park and then stay there all day (there are loos so you could get away with it!).
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
Thinking about it I'm sure I have heard something on the tannoy in the car parks that they patrol them throughout the day, so perhaps you wouldn't get away with it.purple_95 wrote: ↑Sun 12 Jun 2022, 10:53 pmHave often wondered that myself, before anyone jumps on me I would never try it but there might be a few who get in early to the car parking, take own food and make use of the car park toilets and never pay for a ticket.Off topic I know, but I've wondered in the past if people try this at RIAT - get in early so they get a good spot in the car park and then stay there all day (there are loos so you could get away with it!).

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
But do they patrol them through the day or was that just an empty threat to try and ensure people don't just stop in the carparks all day with no ticket.
I was told years ago by someone who worked in the hospitality industry that 'a 'sold out event' is never actually sold out' as the organisers always hold back a small number of tickets as a more pragmatic solution to having to argue with people who have no tickets and are holding up the queue and everyone in it. Of course they don't advertise this anywhere and would probably deny 'tickets on the day' is a thing but for shows like Cosford with extremely limited and awkward access it is a practical solution to keep the queue moving for the few that 'try it on'.
Judging by the number of people on the other thread saying they would never go back to Cosford due to the traffic and issues leaving the car park the availability of tickets in future would seem to be a 'self Policing' thing anyway.

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
They do, there was an announcement about 3pm for someone to go back to their car, they read the cars reg and car type/colour and said the car had left its engine on....CJS wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 7:33 amThinking about it I'm sure I have heard something on the tannoy in the car parks that they patrol them throughout the day, so perhaps you wouldn't get away with it.purple_95 wrote: ↑Sun 12 Jun 2022, 10:53 pmHave often wondered that myself, before anyone jumps on me I would never try it but there might be a few who get in early to the car parking, take own food and make use of the car park toilets and never pay for a ticket.Off topic I know, but I've wondered in the past if people try this at RIAT - get in early so they get a good spot in the car park and then stay there all day (there are loos so you could get away with it!).

Wife check
Kids check
Food check
Chair check
Camera check
Heads off leaving keys in ignition for hours
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
I literally can't quite believe that would be possible. Leave the keys in the ignition? We've all done that. But actually leave the car running?! Brilliant!Luke28 wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 6:35 pmThat made me (and pretty much everybody else) laugh.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 6:11 pmThey do, there was an announcement about 3pm for someone to go back to their car, they read the cars reg and car type/colour and said the car had left its engine on....CJS wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 7:33 amThinking about it I'm sure I have heard something on the tannoy in the car parks that they patrol them throughout the day, so perhaps you wouldn't get away with it.purple_95 wrote: ↑Sun 12 Jun 2022, 10:53 pmHave often wondered that myself, before anyone jumps on me I would never try it but there might be a few who get in early to the car parking, take own food and make use of the car park toilets and never pay for a ticket.Off topic I know, but I've wondered in the past if people try this at RIAT - get in early so they get a good spot in the car park and then stay there all day (there are loos so you could get away with it!).

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
I had a chuckle at that too, but if the car is anything like mine then the engine would probably have cut out when it was put into neutral upon parking. The guy then left the keys in the ignition, and probably about 5-10 mins after he walked away the engine would have jumped back into life to preserve the battery.
2024 shows: Abingdon, Cosford, Sywell, RIAT, Zeltweg with a couple of Duxford and Shutteworth shows thrown into the mix.
Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
One of those clever ones, eh? My partner has that start/stop feature on her Fiesta, and we found that it only works when the battery is basically brand new. She had a new one about 6 months ago and it's already stopped doing it at traffic lights.bishbashbosh wrote: ↑Mon 13 Jun 2022, 9:51 pmI had a chuckle at that too, but if the car is anything like mine then the engine would probably have cut out when it was put into neutral upon parking. I never knew they turned back on after a few minutes though - every day's a school day!

Re: So dissapointed - tickets SOLD OUT.
That sounds more like the ECU has decided the alternator is about to pack up so knows the battery isn't going to charge quick enough to keep using start-stop. I had no issues with start-stop for the three-ish years I had my Focus with the same battery!
