Does anyone know whether they will do their tactical demonstration straight after, or just do the QRA demonstration?JW22 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 2:10 pmLucky enough to have seen it twice in Austria , I personally think it’s fantastic hopefully they still have the special tail one and send thatduffspeed wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 1:21 pmI'm particularly looking forward to the Austrian Typhoon QRA. Seeing two Typhoons perform a display at the same time is something I've not encountered before and if it's anything like the old RAF Tornado Role Demo, it's going to be very noisy - just as I like it.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Very good news for the B-52s. Hugely hope that USAF will do the same with one or two B-1 !

The guy on FC sounds legit. He mentioned the RNLAF are in talks to send x2 F-16 for static back on the 23rd of May (update was on the 6th) and now he got the B-52 right. Now lets see if the B-1B and E-4B arrive

Quite a feat that they managed to move over a mile East between the take off and the landing...bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 3:55 pmYou sure you didn't watch both days?

Whilst flicking through the FAQ section, I've just noticed that they state the flying display will be starting at 9:45. Have they already stated this elsewhere, as i was assuming it was 10:00.

I’d assume so , once the herc has landed they go straight into the routineJameslw1993 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 4:00 pmDoes anyone know whether they will do their tactical demonstration straight after, or just do the QRA demonstration?JW22 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 2:10 pmLucky enough to have seen it twice in Austria , I personally think it’s fantastic hopefully they still have the special tail one and send thatduffspeed wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 1:21 pmI'm particularly looking forward to the Austrian Typhoon QRA. While most of the discussion has been anout the B52 (Fantastic work Peter and Team) What has gone under the radar is the Support the Irish Air Corps are giving this year is absolutely fantastic in their 100th year. The addition of the IAC PC12 may well actually be an Airshow debut given the first show in Ireland doesn't happen until the week after RIAT and they are new to service.
IAC only has around 16 planes, so roughly a 3rd of their fixed wing fleet will be at RIAT (Note - Planes not Helicopters, if we go by their full fleet its roughly a 5th of their entire fleet which is still fantastic support)

It's amazing support from the Irish I agree.

An even more impressive feat was running a mile west between the landing and the landing, to catch the chute, changing the weather to sunny from heavy cloud and filling the showground with 80000 people in around 20 seconds!Light Chop wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 5:12 pmQuite a feat that they managed to move over a mile East between the take off and the landing...bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jun 2022, 3:55 pmYou sure you didn't watch both days?

Thought I would put it into context for those berating the fact that there are a few prop based displays..
Jets displaying..
RAF Typhoon demo
RAF F35B flyby
Italian Typhoon
Swiss F18
Spanish F18
Austrian Air power Demo x2 Typhoons
Greek F16
Belgian F16
Hungarian Gripen
Swedish Gripen
Finnish Hawk
USAF B52
Red Arrows
Frecci tricolori
Black Eagles
Think that is a pretty impressive line up of jet power to go on

Even with a trainer theme that is highlighting many types of Props, this is still the biggest collection of jets in the UK, and one of the biggest in Europe post Covid and airshows returning.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Anyone know whether the Greeks have the specially painted f-16 back , know when I spoke to the crew a few years back it was under heavy maintenance

The Zeus Demo. Team website states that they use a jet in a standard colour scheme.

After practicing with a somewhat ‘clean’ F-16 from what I can see on their social media pages, I believe the Zeus team has once again started using an aircraft outfitted with the Conformal Fuel Tanks.
Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
I think this question was covered a few months ago in this thread, and it seems that the Greeks have confirmed that they now use a standard F-16 with CFTs, rather than a specially painted one.
In Denmark last weekend, it was a standard jet with CFTs.

Four hours’ flying in Friday.
I quite like the truncated day. It’s a nice chilled way into the show, and obvs there are still arrivals, so people get to see static aircraft “live”.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Friday has become my favourite day, a mix of movements and a smaller show to allow, as Tommy mentioned, a brief trek around the static and the odd stall. If I have a small whinge about it's the lack of a movement sheet available for the day in the Main area. There is one in the FRIAT area, thankfully I have my FRIAT spy :lol
There's been a few negative comments regarding the lineup, but some perspective is needed. The last two years missed, a war in Europe, the current economic situation. All should have an impact on the show but In all honesty it's not warranted. The lack of USAF/USN demos is a shame, but only that. Swiss F18, Spanish F18, Belgian F16, Austrian Demo....My money's worth right there. Add in the static gems (A4!!!!!!! Lansen!!!!!) and I should be a happy, if a little crispy around the edges, bunny by Friday night. Work means Saturday, Sunday and probably Monday is off limits this year.
