I think there's a hint of knicker wetting going on. I remember July 25th 2019 it hit 35. And I remember heatwaves when I was kid that lasted for weeks, getting into the un-air conditioned cars with the wind down windows feeling like a turkey in an oven! First RIAT that's been this hot and it's erupted into 'ahh it's too hot, will it get cancelled'. Anyone remember 2006 that was a scorcher too! We'll all look rather silly, if we get the rear end of this hot weather and have a thunderstorms.
Is it a concern? yes. But if you take the appropriate precautions you should be okay!
Insulting people is unnecessary and childish. Maybe bear in mind people on here may have circumstances other than yours where IT IS a valid concern
It's a valid issue, and given the weather warnings already put out by the authorities, if you are reacting like that to a bit of concern on a forum, you're going to be raging by the weekend as they'll be announcements at the show every 5 minutes about it.
'if you are reacting like that to a bit of concern on a forum' aren't you precisely doing just that?
I haven't insulted anybody and yet here you calling me childish? If you're referring to 'knicker wetting' 'it's hot' to 'will the show get cancelled' is a big jump do you not reckon? I'm merely making an observation. As mentioned there's no denying it's not a concern, just some clarity is needed.
Why would I be bothered about the commentary making announcements about the looking after of peoples wellbeing?
Today they announced more train strikes but thankfully they have to give 14 days notice so it won't affect riat. My only concern now is the heat causing disruption.
"It's going to be a hot one, so don't forget to bring drinks, hats, and sun cream!
Fairford is set for a heatwave this weekend with temperatures expected to exceed 30 degrees celsius. With large areas of concrete covering much of the airfield, our showground will be even hotter than the weather forecast.
Preparation is key. Please ensure that you bring enough drinks and sun cream to last the day. Make sure that you also wear a hat and appropriate footwear.
Staying connected
While we’ve made every effort to shore up mobile networks for the duration of the event, unfortunately all networks with the exception of EE have declined to provide additional phone masts. Fairford is also a rural place so you may not be able to access the internet on your phone at all times. Therefore, we advise you screenshot or print your ticket so you are ready to present it when you arrive at the showground. You may also like to arrange a meeting place for your family at the start of the day in case you become separated and are unable to contact each other via phone. While we endeavour to provide WiFi access to as many people as possible, this is not guaranteed."
Buy the sky and sell the sky and lift your arms up to the sky and ask the sky"
Anyone think there is any possibility of arranging a collection bucket in the FRIAT reception in memory of Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko for families of those killed in the 831st Guards Tactical Aviation Brigade or indeed the Ukrainian Air Force? Perhaps there is a FRIAT person with good connection with RIAT? Would need a bit of work with some sort of notice or banner printed out...
Did you manage to talk to Wendy about a collection? I imagine there might be some Ukr. related collections going on anyway, just wondered...
No been travelling so no time.was hoping another friat person may pick it up but the suggestion was too late. A pity really as It is what friends would do and would be a good gesture towards the unit
Another problem - this time for FRIAT e-ticket holders. To get your 'free' daily flying list, a FRIAT benefit, you need a voucher. You can't get a voucher for Wednesday as FRIAT is not open to collect you pass and vouchers. And, for me, who was planning to be in P&V all day, it's not worth a trip to the FRIAT enclosure just to get a voucher on Thursday. I have asked Wendy for a solution.... and will post any reply...
Wendy has now agreed with my original suggestion that the sellers accept the e-ticket - they will also take your name to tie it up to the records
I usually pull up in the centre of red and even if the crowd-line is heaving there’s lots of room to drop back.
Corner of green is good, and aircraft will lift before then but you can’t see them at the end of the runway (not unless you’re on stilts) and it can get very busy there!
Cheers rmc. Sorry , to be clear if in the Red zone, but away from the crowd line, you cant see them on the runway only once they are in the air , thanks. Im just one of those who likes to try and plan a bit beforehand, to avoid the 'right, what we going to do now', and then family argument for 10 minutes !
There is a slight incline as you move further back as I recall at Fairford, so yes, if you aren't on the fence you won't have a 'clear' view of the runway, but the further back you go you get slightly higher so you'll be able to see at least an idea of what is about to take-off....plus commentary will tell you anyway
