Vampires evening engine run and photoshoot

Post by CameronSys »

Day, dusk and dark photo event with two Vampires at Coventry on 20th October.

Vampire T11 WZ507 will, subject to serviceability, start after the sun has set, giving great opportunities to see the characteristic Vampire start-up with flames, at night.

The two vampires haven't been seen in public together before, and the second Vampire has not been seen in public at a British event. Further participation will be announced soon

Sounds interesting, who is running the event?

The group looking after WZ507 are running the event, including lighting etc.

More aircraft are to be confirmed soon, and at least 507 will run, serviceability permitting.

It'll be the cost of £5M-£10M Event Public Liability Insurance that's needed to hold an event like this, I would have thought?

I dont buy that argument, Threshold.aero regularly put on shoots for nearly half the price

I have a feeling Andy knows what he's talking about, being one of the owners of Threshold.aero ;)

The guys also have the advantage of being able to split the cost of their PLI across multiple events. More events, better value. Fewer events, higher ticket price.

I can't imagine PLI is getting cheaper, either... :(

Meteor NF.11 WM167 will also be part of the photoshoot, alongside the two Vampires.

Weather looking good, plan is for '507 to fly on the afternoon of the 20th.

Is WM167 still flying? I heard it was going to Bruntingthorpe - or was this a different NF11?

It is the one off to Bruntingthorpe. She could fly there, but would need a permit to do so. At least this is my understanding! There is a feeling that transporting her to Brunty would mean she never flies again. I sincerely hope this is not the case. Does anyone have any information on what her new owners plan for her?

WM167 hasn’t flown since 2015, although does remain in very good condition, I’m sure it’ll be kept that way once it leaves Coventry also.
