Dunsfold was the nearest airshow to my home town.... so this is a very sad development. I will miss the laid-back feel, and the format.
Re: Dunsfold 2019 - 15th and 16th June
Just got home, the weather gods were certainly on our side today, with the predicted heavy rain all afternoon not materialising. A great day, but also a sad one as it's always a very laid back day out and I am very sad to see it go.
Strikemaster pair were great, as were the ultimate fighters (with the P-47 in place of the Fury). Shame there was only a single pass from B-17 & DC-3, but it was still nice to see. Special mention though must go to the BBMF, who eventually managed to arrive to close the show after getting stuck with the weather earlier on. A great routine was flown with plenty of topsides to keeps the photographer's happy!
Anyone know why Peter Teichman popped-in in his Mustang? No display, but nice to see nonetheless.
Lastly, I'd like to give my thanks to Melvyn and Brendan for keeping everyone entertained and informed(ish!) over the past 15 years. Your commentary always made a massive difference to the show, especially during any 'liquid sunshine'! Hopefully another show will take you on.

Believe so, all nine departed Volkel so the issue must have occurred on the ground at Farnborough.

didn't they depart from Farnborough? (sorry ignore this) are they also going back there after the display today?

He had just completed a series of manueuvres that involved tumbling and descending vertically (Not the correct term, sorry ), and as he returned to level flight ... he flew over the trees to the north of the runway. It looked a lot closer than I have seen before ....
I am not a pro, and I am not judging or criticizing him . Maybe it was perfectly normal?

What's going to happen to the Brooklands VC10 and the 747-200 that are based at Dunsfold?

is there a timescale for redevelopment? I'd read that a plan was to integrate and expand the Wey and Arun canal into the scheme but it's mostly dry in that area; a short section is still in water to the SE of the airfield
bit of a useless location for housing given the lack of local facilities and zero public transport links (Cranleigh themselves opposed reopening the railway line) and the A281 is at capacity into Guildford at present.

I agree. I was brought up a mile or so from the end of the runway - mum and dad still live there - and, aside from being a massive brownfield site, it really is a pants place to stick a load of houses.
Mind you, when was the last time you saw a housing development built somewhere sensible?
