Astronomy attempts

Post by DerekF »

Struggling with equipment, clouds, ambient light and lack of skill, I've managed a few rather crappy images this year.

Nothing prepared me for the joy of seeing Saturn through the telescope for the time. Sadly my attempts at photographing Saturn fell a bit short. Still, you get the idea. Taken with a Nikon D5300 mounted on the telescope

A couple of shots of Jupiter, one overexposed to bring out the satellites and one to try and pick out some, any, surface detail.

A star cluster, the name of which I've forgotten. A 30second tracked exposure at 1600ISO using a Nikon D750 with Sigma 150-600mm lens using the telescope mount.

Saturn and Jupiter are not great photos but to be able to recognise them at all is quite something - well done.

Other pics are great but there is just something about those 2 that are so far away.

Saturn and Jupiter - I'd be delighted to see them and their distinctive features.

They're out of this world. (Had to be done).

The Saturn and Jupiter are superb, seeing them like that. The Moon are not bad either. Love seeing the shadows across the craters like that.
