Just saw the USAF 75th Eagle from LN. Hopefully that's one of them that makes it tomorrow.

Couple of burner passes from that over the weekend would more than make up for the loss of the B-52. More likely to be on static though.

Can anyone confirm if the RSV Spartan display is the Chuck it around display or that more dull role demo display??

Why are two (what could be considered star items) at the beginning of each show day?
I know what you mean, i don't usually get into the showground until 10 never mind anywhere near the flightline. Was gutted to see the Spanish EF-18 is on second. Really bad bit of planning there, you'd of thought something like the PC-7 team would be a better opener and give everyone that extra 30 mins to get in.

With a 09:45 start I guess more than a few will miss two excellent fast jet displays.

Watched the live stream of planes TV today. And I noticed some serious new hangers being build. Just opposite the FRIAT grandstand I think. And the old hanger really looked a bit tacky.
The FRIAT grandstand itself has been moved a bit more to the west in my opinion. Or is that just an impression.....

I think it makes sense to front load the flying display given the weather. Means if people want to make a move or shelter from the worst of the mid afternoon heat they can without missing major stuff

Looking forward to the full weekend and hoping we don’t get anymore cancellations!!

Friday is my wandering day, taking in the static and “tat”, Saturday is an enclosure day and Sunday is a mop up day for any static and displays from a different POV

Looking at the schedules it seems the Red Arrows are on fairly early…they’ve always felt like an early afternoon display but I may be wrong!

Maybe because they are nowhere near the star display team this year

Well that was gruelling, started pretty busy then ground to a halt as stuff stopped turning up. Well done to the German Air Force Tornados though. Epic stuff! How low!?

Gutted about the SK.60s - they were one of the stars for me, but still, no use being upset over something that can't be changed. I wonder what happened!

Highlights of today we're of course the German Tornados. It was also nice to see the C-27 display is back to full lunacy.

There's a lot to get done tomorrow so hopefully a busy one I would think!

Very sad to lose the Sk.60, on top of the Meteor and 757 cancellations. They say bad things come in threes, fingers crossed that's about it...still looking forward to lots of other items.

Shame about the B-52 as well obviously, they'll be flying for 2+ decades yet though so enough chances to see one in the air again hopefully.

Have a great time everyone!

US Navy P-8 might be a no-show at this rate...
Where has this come from?
Nowhere, presumably. Unless everything that hasn't arrived by lunchtime on Wednesday is now assumed to not be coming :man_shrugging_tone2:

Fine if you're camping or prepared to get up at silly o'clock to miss the queue but if you have a family who get up later or get caught in traffic, you're stuffed. The weather isn't ridiculously hot, just take a hat and have an ice cream.

Maybe this year with only 7 jets a morning slot is best for them.

Anyone know about the ‘special flypast’? I’m getting the impression that the team at DBH have an ace up their sleeves and it’s not the ones involving the Red Arrows…

The US Navy P-8 was never on the list for today, hence, the question... Maybe it cancelled before print but the website wasn't updated until this evening? Or maybe it's just a coincidence?

I mean no disrespect, but I think you might enjoy the show more by focusing on what does arrive rather than what doesn't! Trust me, I obsess over ticking off all the aircraft that I want to catch but at some point I realised that there's no fun in stressing about it. You can only get what's in front of you, and we have no control at all over what turns up and what doesn't.

I've seen a rumour of something coming from Whiteman on Sunday...but completely unsubstantiated so far.

I mean, it would be lovely if there was a 'special flypast' that hasn't already been announced, but I don't recall DBH ever stating that such a thing was in the offing. We have 2 special flypasts already confirmed (one for each weekend day) but, unless I have missed something (it happens, tbf...) the only place any other flypasts have been discussed has been on here and various other websites not actually linked to RIAT.

That said, I was of course wrong to question bobby's assertion that the P-8 wasn't coming earlier (or maybe not wrong to question it, but just wrong to disagree with it!), so what do I know!?

That said that said, the B-2 flypasts (for example) were kept secret until the very last minute in recent years.

It's all just very exciting!
