Taken from the latest email

A powerful demonstration of nordic airpower from our NATO partners is heading to Sanicole.

For the first time ever, the Danish air force will take part in our show, and they do so with a rare performance by their massive C-130 transport legend with an unforgettable demonstration of stunning agility and its ability to outshine the sun!

The Norwegian air force will also make a rare appearance with two aircraft types, the secretive Falcon 20 electronic warfare aircraft escorted by a pair of front-line F-16 fighters.

C-130 Hercules
Manufacturer: Lockheed-Martin
Country: Denmark

The awe-inspiring C-130J Hercules that the Danish airforce will present is the modernized version of this legendary transport aircraft by our main sponsor Lockheed-Martin. This four-engined heavylifter can operate from rough terrain and has been involved in countless relief missions, as well as proving itself in support of NATO military operations. Don’t miss the unforgettable final pass of this awesome display of agility by a giant of the sky, throwing out countless infrared decoys called flares, used to protect against heat-seeking missiles.

Falcon 20
Manufacturer: Dassault
Country: Norway

The Norwegian airforce reconfigured two of the famous Falcon 20 business jets to capable electronic warfare platforms. Thanks to the hushkit, the Norwegian version is a lot quieter than legacy versions of this popular aircraft, but it is the electronics inside that make this twin-engined jet based at Gardermoen in southern Norway such a potent weapon in the modern-day electronic battlefield.

F-16 Fighting Falcon
Manufacturer: Lockheed-Martin
Country: Norway

Norway was one of the original European countries to join the F-16 programme in the 1970s, and just like the Belgian air force, they are soon transitioning to the F-35. They operate these upgraded fighters, which have been involved in several high-profile NATO operations, from Bodo and Orland. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see two of these powerful aircraft in a flying display outside of their country.

Cracking additions. I was planning on missing Sanicole this year in favour of Athens (different weekends, but I can only do one) but may have a rethink.

Cant wait to go again this year! Was there in 2017 and unfortunately missed BAF Days last year but Sanicole is such a chilled out weekend compared to the RIAT craziness!!! Great additions and fingers crossed for some more big updates over the next 3-4 months

I'll be travelling up from Germany in my motorhome and will be camping near by. Does anyone know if vehicle parking is on the airfield or will we have to park in surrounding fields and walk in like Fairford for example?
Many thanks.

Parking is in a field immediately adjacent to Sanicole airfield itself. Park up then cross the road and enter the venue.

Bear in mind that Sanicole isn't really an airfield at all... it's little more than an airstrip, a small Aeroclub which hosts one of Europe's largest and best airshows. That's part of its charm, of course.

Yes, many thanks for that. It looks like a pretty small airstrip looking at google maps. It reminds me of the times I used to visit the Badminton Air Day and other Fly-In events there. That was a small grass strip too.

Many thanks for letting me know about parking arrangements.

Make sure you leave plenty of time to get out of the car parks afterwards. Dozens of lanes emptying into what is basically a single country track with no traffic control. Expect chaos!

Thanks for the information Mike. I’m not too worried about getting out I’ll be sat in my motorhome preparing dinner :snack:
I’ll wander out when it gets a lot quieter :tumbleweed:

I see that to help traffic flow everyone will be bused in on shuttle buses from designated car parks. That should help with people getting to and from the events.

However it says “Based on your place of residence (or that of the driver), the most suitable parking with the associated route will be assigned to you.“ How negotiated do you think this will be? For instance, my normal route from home would have me approaching from the West but my temporary weekend accommodation is to the East.

If they allocate me a western car park I’d have to take a large circular detour to get back to my accommodation in the east.

Any thoughts?

If you are not travelling directly from home, enter the address of your lodging / hotel / ...
That way you avoid having to circle around to get to the designated parking.

Thank you for the information. Alas, all I saw was about buying tickets, which I’ve already purchased. No mention of participating aircraft or today’s email about another display team taking part. Am I looking in the wrong place?
