I know I'm bias but the team has been working extremely hard and I'm very pleased with the participation list as is, considering we've almost run out of concrete space to park them and bedrooms for the crews to sleep in.

Not knocking the team or the aircraft line up this year at all with this post, I'm very much looking forward to seeing all the stuff I've never seen before - its a good looking line up so far.

However I'm a little intrigued by the space to park the aircraft comment, unless there is a whole load of aircraft unannounced at this point, which there may be there may be not. However considering the amount of aircraft Fairford has proven it can hold - see the list in 2003 when the layout was the same as it is now in terms of concrete available and was full of a huge amount of larger types, currently far fewer on the 2022 list. Are we really running out of parking space or is there a reduced show area this year, a recommended distance between aircraft of 50 feet or something? More traders taking up space? More food stalls at cheaper prices? Intrigued.

Keep up the good work though.

I don't think it is in the same layout this year as in 2003 capa.... North Loop is closed for starters.

I'm not talking exclusively 2003. That year was just to show the example of how much can really fit on site.

2019 static/southside had three C-17s, Voyager, B-52, KC-10, KC-135, P-8, Il76, E-3, A400, two P-3s, six C-130s plus 38 other aircraft fighter/large helicopter size and above.

So far we have an A340, KC-390, 727, two A400s, three C-130s, P-3, C-17, KC-46, KC-135, P-8 plus 33 other aircraft fighter/large helicopter size.

Currently eight large and five other aircraft down on just 2019 which in itself was a small static compared to shows when we've had 200+ aircraft on static and less tarmac for them to use.

I don't know why space has become an issue? We even used it as joke when space was a theme last show, saying there was plenty between the aircraft.

Is it maybe a result of the works taking place on the north side? Flying aircraft may need to be parked south side = less static space maybe than even 2019?

Are they still parking the display teams south side? if there's a large number of teams this could take up some more room??

Red Arrows x 9
Black Eagles x 8 (maybe more if a spare)
PC7 Team x10 (possibly)
Baby Blue x6
Silver Swallows x 4
Frecce Tricolori x 11
RJF x 4

Bored at work, what's our predictions for tomorrow? (Aircraft isn't an appropriate answer).

I'm going to take a stab in saying a Turkish T129 ATAK.

As Japan are ongoing, I would say a Japanese tanker on static.

I have a feeling (based on nothing) that tomorrow's update will feature stars and bars. 🇺🇲

Just no cancels... when we get this close, this is all I want. 😅

But if we're asking - a P1 on static.

I was waiting for someone to say Soloturk, Rafale M or some other fast jet for the flying display.

Oh, maybe I'm in fantasyland tonight 😂

I think after getting a little carried away the other day and Peter not telling us to set too high expectations, I think we're all in our shells a little bit. Here's expecting a single Belgian Dassault Falcon for tomorrow's update  (that made me realise their Embraer went slowly into the night!)

Gonna say, Canada to confirm maybe a couple of aircraft. RAF Chinook added to the flying & maybe a static Puma. One or 2 more USAF/US Navy aircraft on static...always hopeful one or 2 of the Amber countries turn to green lights too.

Hopefully no cancels 🤞

Some heavy stuff, gutted about the NZ 757. Anything will do B-52, C-17A, maybe even a DHL 757/767 :)

So Sanicole have announced US F35 demo and also say it’s the only demo outside the US this year! Guess that ends that conversation then?! No cancellations and a few static will do till show time 👍

Hoping that the Chinook will finally be confirmed after such a good display at Cosford.

Perhaps we may be lucky enough to get some of the Turkish aircraft going to Farnborough. The T129 would be a dream and the Hurkus fits the training theme. One presumes the Super Tucano listed for Fairfield is the same as for FIA.
2024 shows: Abingdon, Cosford, Sywell, RIAT, Zeltweg with a couple of Duxford and Shutteworth shows thrown into the mix.

Isn't the F35 demo different to the heritage flight?

In terms of the display, yes....but it's the same pilot. The Heritage flight is usually just added on to the end of the solo jet display. But the warbird pilot is specific too I believe, so doesn't necessarily appear at every show the solo jet element is doing.

What the RAF Typhoon & BBMF are doing at some shows this year is like the UK version of The Heritage flight if that helps...

Maybe the demo pilot, ground crew members, or someone else related to the team had booked leave over RIAT weekend. There's a thousand and one reasons why a team may not be coming to a specific show, but going to another instead.
