Eastbourne 2018

Post by lambo17841 »

Not much listed so far, does not look like a lot to attract the usual crowds this year, unless there is more to come.

That's probably because its still just May and the organisers haven't confirmed all of their line-up yet! (Just like almost all other airshows)

After reading the Clacton thread I decided to look at the Eastbourne participation list, and given that there's only a month to go.... There ain't much is there? Tempted to give this one a miss, the first one I haven't attended since 2009.

EDIT: Probably just post RIAT me talking there, looked through older programmes and it seems similar, so I take back what I said about not attending, will be interesting to see the Calidus for the first time, aswell as the Shark Mustang.
Also worth noting is how theres no difference between Sat and Sun with regards to what's flying, generally there's a star item of sorts on the run for one of the days

Flying was restricted further, with just the Belgian A-109, RAF Typhoon, BBMF Spitfire and Chinook being able to display.

Weather looking better for the rest of the show weekend.

Yes, obviously flying over the sea below the secondary crowd is so dangerous but we've had that debate for the last two years so I won't start again.

I'm tempted to give it a go tomorrow, especially as the Belgian A-109 will be coming from Shoreham but the possibility/probability of getting nothing is a worry.

Other than that, I might have a hunt for the Red Arrows support heli over the weekend, which should be a Juno, but it did not land at the usual place last year, so I may never find it.

I did go to Beachy Head.

The Belgian A-109 was good from there on it's way back only and the RAs gave a nice singleton pass followed by pair soon after.

And that was about it. I left after the Arrows but I saw the Typhoon arrive from the east and I expect it departed that way also.

I didn't see where the Juno landed but it was well inland somewhere on the north side of town.

I think having the song 'Thunderstruck' suits any Fast jet display, but that's my opinion. Commentary can be great in the right hands (or voices), but that's another discussion, and thread.
