20 hours non-stop? No thanks 🙈

BBC News - Qantas promises direct flights from Sydney to London and New York
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-61294894
Yes please! If I'm going to Australia I don't want to have to get off, change aircraft, go through security again, possibly have a stop-over I don't want etc. One flight to actual destination is ideal.
Actually you'd be dreaming of stopping - getting off - having a walk. - Done the 17 hours Sydney to Dubai a few times and it's torture ! Wouldn't touch this with a barge pole!
Just sounds like another outing for my well-thumbed copy of Lord of the Rings to me!

Australia is really not getting on at all well with its Tigers and NH90s.

This is a pretty bad indictment:

I’ve seen a few comments and murmurings, and a few staffers have picked up on it, but are the Reds only flying eight jets this year?

There could, of course, be a jet behind this one, but others have noticed similar from other displays/shots from the ground.

From pics on their twitter at least nine went out. Could be a pilot is ill, an issue with an aircraft or as you say an aircraft behind that view. Would have thought they would have announced it if they were reducing the number of aircraft.

9 Hawks went out initially, followed by a singleton a few days later.

Could well be reading too much into it, but there have been one or two “spots” of eight jet formations at a number of different events/places, from a number of different perspectives.

Maybe they just haven’t worked the 9th in yet. (Or they have, and the vid just doesn’t show it.)

I always understood that the Reds also do an amount of training in a 'loser strategy' i.e. having to practice for a short handed formation should one go tech upon departure, or whilst in transit etc. It pays to be prepared.

I wonder if that's what is being practiced here. Always good to see a decent pilot eye's view as well. Thanks for the share.
Now officially qualifies as a 'regular' at Famous Dave's - El Centro

And I always understood that the requirements for each Red Number were so specific as to preclude this, which is why when they go down to eight the hole appears in random places depending who is u/s. However, perhaps modern practice has overcome this issue and each member has a defined "supersub" role to keep the formations tidy?

Sadly one of the pilots has left the team. I don't know why, but they certainly are not out in Greece with the others.

The RAF is investigating the Red Arrows over allegations of drinking, it has emerged.

Sources claim one pilot has been sent home from Greece, where the famous aerobatic display team is training.

An insider claimed: ‘There is a huge under-the-table inquiry going on. It’s to do with alcohol and suspected inappropriate behaviour. The head of the RAF is personally involved in the Red Arrows probe.’
